anton,

Yes, but the first steam train was also a step towards interstellar travel.

anton,

It’s on your other hand, next to the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th. If that is missing you should ask the bigger questions (like who took my hand).

anton,

Iirc here in Germany you get some funding based on the votes you got last election.

This reduces reliance on outside funding without enabling freeloaders, but sucks for first timers.

anton,

Blahaj refederates with Hexbear, users are baffled (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Blahaj’s admin has refederated with Hexbear, using most Blahaj users unhappy and baffled. No communication from the admins regarding the change, though one user speculated it was a halloween trick. Multiple pings to the admin Ada have gone unanswered, even though Ada is clearly still active on Lemmy.

anton,

Finally, a message from Ada:

Hey, sorry about the way this unfolded.

I removed hexbear from the blocklist, as they are defederated from us, and I was unaware that it would mean that hexbear users and blahaj users would be able to interact on 3rd party instances. I’ll add them back for now.

Ultimately, the reason I removed them from the list now is that once we have the ability to let users block instances on a per user level, I am open to the idea of refederating with hexbear, because I am aware that many of their trans and gender diverse users want the ability to connect with our trans communities, and trans solidarity is something that I hold to be very important. Enough that I am willing to give this all another go.

However, it was only meant to happen after blahaj users had the option to opt out of interacting with hexbear users, and after I had made an announcement letting people know it was coming. I apologise for the screw up leading to a mini refederation before I gave people a heads up and before the tools were in place to let people choose whether they engage with hexbear users.

anton,

Any programmer knows that the smallest value of infinity is 256.

anton,

Sounds like someone null terminates their strings or is afraid of of-by-one errors.

anton,

Love that the storage tech is only mentioned in 2 sentences and only described as using an oxide.

anton, (edited )

My two ways to go about it would be:

  1. the mentioned rubber mats and a roof so they don’t snow over
  2. a metal grating with enough of a offset of the ground/ramp that snow can fall through/get pushed through and be periodically removed from below the grates. (Maybe remove the planks and replace them with gratings.)

Hope this helpes.

anton,

I like that the sikh representative said that dehumanizing any group is bad.

I generally dislike religions but the sikhs are always on point.

anton,

You need to fix your post text, but I don’t know how.

anton,

I hate having long sections between hyphens because they have no indication whether they are the opening ot closing ones — they also don’t allow nesting – or do they? – — which is done well by parentheses.

anton,

Actually it’s not a printer this machine is much more sinister. A machine that is used to oppress people. They use this machine to divide humankind and go against each other […]

Sounds just like a printer.

It will hopefully turn into a 100% science based dragon mmo.

anton,

But if you did, DON’T LIE TO the PARAMEDICS!

anton,

It really depends how your tunnels are built, but ropes going in different directions are probably a good obstacle that could be removed from the outside by untying some simple knots in case there is a problem inside.

Anyways, here is what I typed out before I noticed you wanted to build tunnels:

I think a small bridge made out of a wood frame and a net could be interesting.

By having the net hang in a U shaped cross section the kids can’t fall of to the side, while allowing you to help out from above.

If the net is hung loosely it softens falls and keeps it a challenge as they grow, but it might be difficult to traverse for small children. If you want it pulled tight I recommend some parallel ropes at the bottom to walk on.

Also a tilted plane with wooden holds or a knotted rope.

anton,

Could also mean your neighbor fucked around in a way that is a problem for you.
