They could invade Maine which would kick off the Maple wars. They’ll start to eye Vermont and New Hampshire next. The US population will be powerless to resist as the Canadians lull the domestic population into submission with free healthcare and Tim Hortons.
I am curious, how do musicians make money? I’m under the impression that income from streaming is so low on a per-play basis that you’re not making anything unless you’re a super famous band. I am not seeing as many smaller venue shows being advertised which is where I assumed most income would come from (playing live). So if it’s not from streaming and live playing, what is left? I am going to see if I can find some live shows this weekend since I read this post but it seems odd that despite living in a city, there aren’t a ton of shows going on.
I won’t pretend to have a solution or even an idea of a solution but it seems pretty dystopian when someone creating music has to rely upon selling tshirts to come close to making a living. It should be the music they are making money on directly since people are paying for it. I can’t buy a CD anymore and wouldn’t be able to play it if I did. I don’t own a record player for those releasing vinyl. Maybe the solution is like a Patreon approach, I don’t know. I do feel like it is becoming a neglected art form which can only be focused on by the already rich and famous.
Anyone know what the throughout would look like on that? Would love to use it for SSDs if it’s fast or spinning disks if it could run at a reasonable rate.
Man they really jumped the shark at number 4. I mean you had to suspend rational belief across all of them but that’s just movie magic. Number 4 took it too far.
I’m still buying the older NUCs on eBay for crazy cheap prices and slapping in new nvme drives which have been cheap along with cheap RAM. I end up with 32gb memory 1tb cluster nodes for like $175. Works great in the KVM, VMW, and HyperV lab deployments I need to test in my home labs. I will say that with the AV1 codec support this is interesting as a Jellyfin server though with connection to my NAS. It’s been tough getting cheaper codec capable CPUs.
Don’t think that’s humanities M.O. we kinda tend to be in each others shit constantly. If there is anything we need to learn as a species it’s to focus on our own shit.

Helicopters are an item the free world should have been supplying in excess to Ukraine. Maybe now we will see new models being shipped over. How many spare Hueys does the US have and I imagine so many countries have a ton of helicopters that are not being utilized.
This is a really tough situation. What would be the best response to this? It’s a humanitarian crisis and the people of Haiti are going to suffer immensely but what can other countries do? I don’t know much about the gang leader “Barbecue” but I’d wager he isn’t going to be a benevolent leader so just letting him take over is probably going to make things worse. At the same time, I don’t even think a UN peacekeeping force is going to have a positive impact as I’m pretty sure the people of Haiti are suspicious of EU powers due to their history. I can’t see a solution to this one that brings about a stable Haiti in the near term. Hopefully someone with more awareness in this topic could share some insights though.
It was going to happen sooner or later but I think we can all celebrate what those Patriot systems accomplished in their time in Ukraine. They’ve proven how valuable Patriot AA are in the fight so now it’s time to get the numbers up over there and send more.
My Win10 machine is an audio workstation (DAW) so I am curious how the migration to Linux will work out. Reaper has a Linux port so that should be OK. Hopefully all the VSTs will still work and I’ll have to check on my Focusrite Scarlett. I am not buying a new machine just to run this stuff as it’s just a hobby.

I hope these hackers didn’t also get the source code to RockyLinux or I’m screwed man. If all you need is source code access, I won’t be safe after that. :-)
Dude it’s a movie set not a firing range. That’s like saying that since it’s dangerous to drive fast that car chase scenes can’t exceed 25mph. It’s a movie set where the scene calls for people shooting at each other. Of course the actor would assume that the group responsible for making sure the weapons are safe did their job and made sure the weapons were safe. I wouldn’t assume an actor has any idea of how a gun works if it was my job to make sure they have something to point and shoot. The job of the actor is literally to point and shoot in a scene.
