In this scene a white man is waiting on a fence and then two guys in a low rider who are part of a gang come and ask him what he is doing there and he says he is in California for holiday or business and they threaten him with a gun and take his money and phone. An interesting story about a rarely discussed feature of the Space Shuttle, that lives on in the commercial crew capsules, to prevent travelers from killing everyone onboard.
If that’s the only barrier, you should try again. It’s further along than you think. Thanks in large part to the Steam Deck, compatibility is miles better. I have run into 2 games since I switched 1.5 years ago that won’t run - both are EA titles (shocked Pikachu face). That was my reason not to switch too.
I have life insurance on both my kids - pretty much like the rest of you it’s small and meant as funeral cost coverage. The side benefit is that it’s whole life, so when they get old enough for me to sign it over to them, there’s some cash value they can have instead if they want.
I kept trying to run Linux and windows, both in dual-boot and separate system form, and always crutched my way back to windows. My largest excuse was gaming.
Once Valve proved gaming on Linux is possible via the Steam Deck, I was officially out of excuses. I formatted c: and installed Pop_OS and forced myself to learn it. The only thing I miss, and not even that much, is MS Office apps. There are perfectly serviceable productivity apps for Linux but none feel as comfortable (yet).
It’s been about a year, and I am finding myself copy/pasting a little less than at the beginning and becoming more comfortable and knowledgeable every day. Taking the nuclear option isn’t for everyone, but it worked for me.
I've tried the web app, wefwef, Thunder, Lemming, Connect, Summit, Lemmur, Liftoff and Jerboa. Jerboa was the best so far but I'm using the 0.0.33 IzzyOnDroid version because of the issues with lemmy.world.
Between the sunset theme and my exported pixel pal at the top of my screen, it’s been a pretty comforting experience so far coming from Apollo. Definitely rough around the edges but has potential.

Advice for a middle-age, moderately pc knowledgeable person to finally switch to or become proficient with Linux?
This is my third attempt. Partly to rage quit Windows, and partly to gain utility and control with some professional AV software....
