With UIKit as the basis for much of visionOSā€™ platform, I guess it's cemented its place in the next decade or two of Appleā€™s developer story. But what then is the point of SwiftUI if not to be the foundation for Apple's next OS? Why push it so hard now? Developer lock-in, abstraction away from the 'realā€™ frameworks beneath? One framework for me, another for thee? You can never usurp Apple's power & platform control if you're limited to a simplified, sanitized sandbox. Even warier now than before

@stroughtonsmith I always thought of SwiftUI as something that lowered the barrier to entry for people who wanted to make apps, while also ensuring that those apps would automatically follow platform conventions. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I enjoy using it, but itā€™s definitely necessary to dig in and fine tune it sometimes.

Genuinely, I think there have been a nice crop of new features this year, so the talk of ā€œit's going to be a quiet year because of the headset" seems to have been way off.

Iā€™ve had the idea of making an app for knitters for several years. I feel like the first step of that is learning to knit, so, thatā€™s what Iā€™m doing šŸ§¶

Has anyone shipped an independent watch app that uses Watch Connectivity? Iā€™m trying to use the application context transfer but ā€œisCompanionAppInstalledā€ always returns false, at least on the simulator. Works fine from phone to watch, just not the other way around.

I gotta say, one good thing that came out of Twitterā€™s demise, personally, is that it caused me to basically ā€œgo outside and touch grass.ā€ Iā€™ve been crocheting, painting (?!), spending better time with my kids, helping my husband restore a charming little commercial building, and generally having a good time. āœØGotta catch up on all this App Store/European Union stuff thoughā€¦ Iā€™m a bit out of the loop! šŸ˜¬

I just got an unexpected additional payout from the small developer class action lawsuit that settled last year. Much smaller one, but Iā€™ll take it.
