Went to Sunbury to pickup a Pixel 5 and the owner didn’t even bother to reset it and remove the phone from their Google account. Ended up being a 1hr process because they had no idea what their Google password is and had to ask a relative. They aren’t even that old, younger than me yet had no concept that giving me their phone full of data is a Bad Idea.

    @decryption I once worked with a gentleman that did his boiler making apprenticeship at that site. During his working career he continually extended his education. When I met him he was an engineer (the calculations and drawings variety, not the train driving variety).

    Best engineer I ever worked with. Hands down.

    In my organisation, the letter templates put the date on the very last line.

    This seems totally wrong to me.

    The date is one of the first pieces of information I look for!

    The varied structures of the federal, state, and local governments means that
    US ballots are the most complex in the world. We vote on LOTS of things. Here's a 2016 ballot from San Francisco: https://webbie1.sfpl.org/multimedia/pdf/elections/November8_2016.pdf

    Maybe this isn't ideal, but "simplifying" US elections isn't simple. It would involve deep (constitutional) changes in the way the federal, state, and local governments are organized.
