It’s honestly amazing to me how many things Gen Z seems to assign nostalgia to that they literally NEVER would have been exposed to.
Like all these slow shutter videos? You were never watching Super8 home movies, how is this nostalgic to you?

Idk. Back in the mid to late 90's, the 70's was back in style for a bit. (Think Dazed and Confused, That 70's Show). The late 70's and throughput the 80's it was the 50's (Happy Days, Grease, even Back to the Future). It probably just feels like a new phenomena because it's our personal generation being emulated, and there's a sense of ownership there. @intersynth

True. Whatever the reason may be, I'm not sure it's necessarily a bad thing if it somehow helps keep older technology alive. Then again, if kids 50 years from now have fake nostalgia for Tide Pods, we're all doomed. @intersynth

I agree 100% on this, actually. I just think declaring the Fediverse at large a failure is a bit premature. Incidentally, I've been enjoying Kbin for the last week or so, and feel like it might be a better format overall for decentralized internet. @PinkPants@arstechnica
