I stumbled on https://johnnydecimal.com/ from a random Reddit comment and I'm fascinated. Kinda love it as an organisation system.

    @decryption oh neat. I was just there a couple months ago (right at the last stop of the bus) and could see whales.

    @decryption I hope you do too! We stayed at a property looking right over that point (above the real estate agent on that street) and it had a telescope but the best whale spotting was walking along the cliffs!

    Today's discovery with calendar APIs:

    In Outlook, you can schedule an event to recur on the 31st of the month - and it will (correctly?) presume you want the last day of the month for shorter months.

    In Google, you can recur on the 31st, and it'll only happen on months with 31 days. 😒 Alter the recurrence logic via their API to be last day of the month (it's CalDAV's RRULE under the hood, and RRULE allows for this), and then it works - but then can't be edited via Google's interface. 😩

    @pat wouldn’t it be nice if we all used standards heh. How fun 🙄

    A game of Go on a hyperbolic manifold, played in the HyperRogue discord server, ended like this.

    @henryseg @zenorogue while not as cool as a non Euclidean board, have you seen Custom Goban? Can play arbitrary map shapes and the introduction of many corner-like scenarios can make for quite a surprising and weird game

    maplibre-rs, https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre-rs.

    maplibre-rs is a portable and performant vector maps renderer, which aims to support Web, mobile and desktop applications. It is written in Rust, and uses WebGPU.

    An academic paper has been published, https://isprs-archives.copernicus.org/articles/XLVIII-4-W1-2022/35/2022/ maplibre-rs: toward portable map renderers.

    It targets the Web via WebAssembly, and other platforms via FFI. Rust is used as a Lingua-franka on all platforms.

    @ngmi @hywan @philpax hah funnily enough, from maplibre's readme:

    > The renderer of maplibre-rs is heavily based on the renderer of bevy. Bevy's renderer was forked into this project in order to have a solid and generic base.
