Migrating from mastodon.lol and I forgot to save my bio... I tend to hyperfixate on art but will occasionally rant about the tech industry.

Lately I've gotten into cooking and will post about my misadventures.

To the little gremlin child that ducked underneath the 7 year olds to grab fistfuls of candy from my bowl on Halloween and then skedaddle: I totally get it, these candies are addictive and I need to put this bowl far away from me

Slowly picking up Design Journeys through Complex Systems again (because it's very very dense material) and each page is packed with insights, as well as frameworks I don't see referenced as often from the vantage point of UX or product management

Ngl it kinda surprises me that there isn’t a stackoverflow for sewing

Or is there one and I haven’t found it yet??

I mean, does it need to be centralized? I’m getting the answers I need, I guess… I say, without a clue of what I don’t know I don’t know

My hair stylist is still masking and even left the door wide open during my haircut. They also don’t have any other stylists or customers present in the salon during their shift.

I appreciate the measures they’re taking and certainly feel safer. This also means I can get my hair cut more often because it’s a thing I’m actually rather finicky about!!

Babo Boba Cafe in Cupertino is still in soft launch mode but!!!! They have an injeolmi latte on their menu and you can add honeycomb/dalgona topping and have a super decadent latte

It’s sooooooo good

I wish it was more standard practice for people to list the full address in online event flyers, all the way to the state/province and country

Yes I wanted to see if I could check out the Richmond Zine Fest this weekend until they meant Virginia, lol

Ohh did not expect mask mandates to actually return in Bay Area hospitals

I wondered why Santa Clara county wasn’t in the headline but they’re actually mandating it for everyone this winter, patients included, while some other Bay Area counties are only mandating it for staff

Fyp showed a video from spring about cà phê muối or Vietnamese salted [foam/cream] coffee and there’s a coffee spot in SJ that serves it!!!!

I am so going!! And then I’ll decide if I want to learn to make it at home hehe.

christineluc,

@skinnylatte I tried Muối and my husband tried Signature Saigon.

It has the creaminess of a classic Vietnamese coffee but the salted cream has a sophisticated blend, savory but a bit bitter? Compared to the “classic” egg coffee, egg coffee can be considered cloyingly sweet and this is less overpowering on the sweetness.

My husband’s version is very similar but with a hazelnut aftertaste. I would order again! I liked my order better tbh but YMMV.

For Friday afternoon it was packed!!

A gift/curse I have is that I easily forget fictional stories so of course I’m rereading this story I’d read years ago and it feels like the first time I’d ever read something so touching

Occasionally on here or on other networks I will complain about beloved restaurants closing down near me

Well, a miracle happened.

A jajangmyeon spot I used to go to that had closed down many years ago (maybe 6-8 years ago even) is opening a new location in their original shopping complex!!!

I never thought I'd see something like this happen

((Now if only the jook spot would return as well ;_;))

Speaking as a person and not a professional, but I no longer believe in the concept of a centralized public forum. I think that era, if it was ever real (I don’t know the proportion of posters to lurkers), is over and I’m unsure if it’ll ever come back, for better or worse.

In my direct experience, most of my online engagement takes place in closed off, moderated private communities. The difference between now and the 90s is that the moderators have a wider range of demographics and interests.

Saw this tiktok where this person felt obligated to make every outfit stand out and live up to their fashion potential

… We don’t have to take the things that make us smile and turn those things into misery, lol. What if we didn’t convert all things into mini assignments where we must get an A+? And there could remain corners of our lives where we genuinely have fun for no reason at all??
