Is there any way to reverse degrowth of the niche communities on Lemmy?

Like others, I came over when Reddit was banning 3rd party apps. Many communities were being started and I wanted to help. So I chose one community to form here and try and grow. And we did! There was a time a short while in the little KC Chiefs community was in the top 100 communities on Lemmy world. I knew that wouldn’t last...

We will only regard content as spam if the advertising aspect is heavier than the community aspect. We host the official Sync for Lemmy app, for example, and let the developer do occasional advertising, same with the Boost for Lemmy app. But if an user, community or an instance is only there to advertise, they will be regarded as spam and removed.

Yeah it happens, I remember getting banned from r/offmychest for making a comment in /watchredditdie. Lots of live examples from Reddit on what not to do.
