    @fzer0 @carbon_compound der punkt ist: es ist einfach so dermassen viel billiger. alle fertigen batterien, die ich gesehen hab, sind mindestens doppelt so teuer.

    über pylontech sieht man in den entsprecheden youtube-kanälen nix schlechtes, sind m.w. nicht komprimiert (evtl religöse frage) und das sind nur 15 zellen, üblicherweise sind's 16.

    @carbon_compound @fzer0 das (pylon, selbstbau) sind eh allesamt LiFePO, die brennen ned. die hochvolt-dinger von huawei, tesla etc sind SWIW LiIon... aber ich würd mir zum bau einer solchen batterie jedenfalls eine wärmebildkamera zulegen, weil ein bis mehrere 100A sind auch kein lercherlschas.

    aber was red ich, ich bekomm hoffentlich demnächst mal angebote für PV, an batterie ist noch lang nicht zu denken.

    @fzer0 @carbon_compound das hast aber eigentlich immer, keiner fährt seine akkus von 0-100%, nicht im e-auto und nicht im haus. unteres limit schon allein wegen notstrom-reserve, oberes zur schonung.

    @fzer0 @carbon_compound wenn du historische daten von verbrauch und PV-ertrag hast, schreib dir mal ein scripterl und spiel das durch, so mit "was-wäre-wenn" mit verschiedenen akkugrößen. da gibt's irgendwo einen knick in der kurve, ab dem grösser nicht mehr viel bringt.

    If I'm building a ESP32-based thing which does HTTPS requests to the internet, my options are to eternally watch out for CA changes of those external servers, or to disable cert verification. Am I missing something, some solution that could reasonably be expected to run unmodified for a few years?

    @vsaw I already thought about the proxy thing -- but if I rely on additional infrastructure on my servers, I'll just parse the data from the APIs there and deliver it to the ESP via MQTT.

    Pinning the root CA is apparently what all the libraries require you to do, but what if the server switches CA? That's something you only discover after the fact...

    Wow, OK, so I guess a lot of folks don't know what Android Auto / CarPlay do and why it's bonkers that GM is dropping it. So, quick explainer:

    Car companies generally suck at making software. Everyone complains at how buggy their infotainment screens are, and getting updates for maps etc. is an awful experience.

    So, why not just provide a way for your always-up-to-date phone to take over the car's infotainment screen - leaving the software to the people who are good at software?

    It's that.

    @TechConnectify there also was a mode for Android Auto where it only ran on the phone (for cars without the ability), which was dropped by Google about a year ago...
