Got some clip on sunglasses at the Warby Parker store. I probably look a little like a mom from the early nineties, but I think it’s cool?

Does anyone use transitions lenses and like them?

Got my Warby Parker glasses today. They seen great so far. Build quality feels consistent with every other pair of glasses I’ve had.

@shantini it absolutely is.

So, the boys discovered voice dictation for texts... "Is it antique all night today?" is "Is it Auntie Night today?", apparently...

I'm still puzzling on "Home and we have to go fast for a Colton from Colton from Khop"

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@nothe I turned this feature off when it interpreted “kale juice” as “kill Jews.”

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@nothe oh yeah. I can still dictate through Siri when driving :)

Having seen most of the country over a few weeks, I can say that while places were cool in different ways, nowhere touches the Pacific Northwest and specifically . I didn’t go anywhere that didn’t feel like it would be a downgrade for me in pretty critical ways.

@noelle and it has the coolest and best looking people! 😂

I haven't started at all on next major releases of @broadcastsapp or @pastelapp, just quietly progressed refactors and other tangential elements to make sure both are in a good place to adopt anything I need to at WWDC should an augmented reality OS drop. I have a feeling this year will be more about that than a flashy v.next per se on either app

@stroughtonsmith Congratulations. That's an awesome place to be.

I feel so bad Link has to stay in his crate while we figure out what's up with his leg. I'm going to do whatever it takes for him to get back on all four feet, but in the meantime, it really sucks for him.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@noellemitchell he’s going to be okay! It might just be a bit expensive and take a while.

If only two more people sponsor @marcoroth on GitHub, for as low as $5/month, he'll hit his ten monthly sponsors goal. Go do it. https://github.com/sponsors/marcoroth

@marioguzman I really expected Phil to be Phil Schiller 😂 I don't know if there's any world where my parents could have afforded such a thing (we weren't rich) but I still wish I would have had one.

Getting incredibly frustrated with Xcode 14.3. Trying to get Obj-C code formatted reasonably, aligning off of :

But when I look in VSCode or a Git client then the alignments are way off

This is despite all being set to treat tabs as 4 spaces, and using monospaced fonts

Setting “Prefer Indent Using” Spaces … Xcode uses tabs, unless previous line started with spaces

Tab Key … setting Indents in Leading Whitespace / Indents Always / Inserts Tab Characters … doesn’t help

⬆️ Xcode, ⬇️ VSCode

Show code in Xcode (top) and VSCode (bottom). In VSCode that : are allignemt, but in Xcode the : is not alligned with the other, or the beginning of parameter descriptor.

View of code in Xcode and VSCode. Top section is Xcode, the NSSttributedString parameters are aligned on the : However, underneath is the same file in VSCode which shows many more tabs inserted by Xcode, and wrapping onto another line. Well out of alignment.

@tarasis I gave up on trying to use tabs for anything a long time ago even if I feel it's more "correct" in my heart. I'd just convert everything to spaces.

My dog Link hurt something in his foot or leg yesterday. According to the vet it could potentially be something that needs $5000 orthopedic surgery.

Even worse that that, it means he has to sleep in his crate, meaning we can’t cuddle 😞

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@noellemitchell thanks. I think he will be eventually. I just love him so much I wish he didn’t have to deal with it.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@YakyuNightOwl Thank you! He's pretty mad he has to stay in his crate right now but he's gonna be okay.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@mukmantheorigina I'm just glad it's nothing life threatening. Hopefully it won't be the $5000 thing and require months of recovery, but even if it is, I'd do anything for the guy :)

I am wary of any five letter acronyms which are supposed to solve your software architecture problems.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@markn don’t even get me started on the fours.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@jaredwhite Totally. The funny thing is how the people who create and promote them often state them as principles or rules when they probably meant “guideline that’s useful in some circumstances.” I guess that’s a harder book to sell?

Ordered some Warby Parker glasses last night. I don’t know if I’ll like them, since I’ve never had any, but for $95 it’s fine even if I just end up having them for backups.

collin,
@collin@ruby.social avatar

@samlichlyter That’s with prescription lenses but without needing an exam :)

What is a microphone, possibly a headset, I could recommend for guests to get which will sound good but also not be too cost prohibitive since I am after all asking people to spend money to be on the show.

If we get sponsors I might just buy it for the guest, but it’s probably cost prohibitive otherwise.
