Ubisoft seems like one of the shittiest game companies. They were one of the earliest companies that implemented Always-on DRM, requiring an app to open chests, trying to put ads when you paused the game, refusing to put games on Steam because they want more money, sexual assault/harassment allegations etc.

Yeah, in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

cottonmon,
@cottonmon@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, I was talking about Unity which had some chests that you could only open with an app.

Definitely greed, Ubisoft did the same thing in 2019 because they didn’t want to pay Steams 30% cut.

Yeah, they’re a pretty shitty company. Weren’t they one of the first companies to implement always-on DRM?

From the last time I had to use EA’s launcher, I still couldn’t easily pick an install location. It’s incredible how shitty it is.

Aren’t demos kind of making a comeback? I’ve played lots of demos on Steam.

I really don’t understand why there’s so much hostility towards masks. I’ve always worn masks when I was sick and it was never a big deal for me. Wearing a mask all the time during 2020-2023 wasn’t a bother either.

I really hope Gamefaqs continues to persist. I still think it’s one of the best places for guides.

cottonmon,
@cottonmon@lemmy.world avatar

Not really, it’s just that a lot of guides nowadays are done on youtube. I personally think text guides are superior so I really don’t want gamefaqs to go away.

I liked the online events because it was easier for them to get runners from around the world to participate. Also, I think the rhythm game showcases would have never happened without the online-only GDQs.

I’m guessing this is still related to that time where a guy running a tournament had his nude Chun-Li mod on.

While I agree that you could jump in with Yakuza: LAD, I think it might be worth playing the earlier games for Infinite Wealth because Kiryu is one of the main characters. There will probably be a lot of references to the previous games because of Kiryu’s bucket list.

The other stupid part is that WFH makes more sense from a business perspective. Having to pay less in office rent and utilities is great for saving on costs.

cottonmon,

Yeah, should be in the global achievements assuming you know which one is for finishing the game. So far, it looks like this is at 16.8%.

cottonmon,

Most people probably didn’t even recognize the other games. I only know about Shadow of Doubt (which I think should have won) because Yahtzee made a video about it.

Only write-ups I could see was for the description of the award. I don’t remember if the games had write-ups during the voting period though.

cottonmon,
@cottonmon@lemmy.world avatar

Best guess is people voted it because they didn’t know any of the other games and didn’t bother to check.

Or being one of the few games that require you having an SSD to run properly lol.

The boundary system is what motivates poor driving habits among PUVs. It literally incentivizes them to break laws in order to maximize their income. It should be removed.

I suppose you could say it’s story heavy since what you’re doing is piecing together what happened on the ship. The story is that you’re a insurance investigator and have to find out what happened to every person that was on the Obra Dinn. It’s a great game. If it matters, it’s a Lucas Pope game, the guy who made Papers Please.

I meant with crowd funded games. I’m aware that they still buy exclusivity. Though from what I know they pay indies less compared to what they used to pay.

They also supposedly have a plan where everyone will still have access to their games in the unlikely event that Valve shuts down.

I’d like to enter for God of War.

So what made me happy this year is that I finally moved out and have less interaction with my extremely toxic family. Also my GF came back from abroad and we’re going to be working towards getting a place here so that we can start living together.

In any case, thanks for this OP and good luck everyone!
