Making the Join Lemmy Page More Accessible to the Non-Technical
I’ve only been a member of Lemmy for about a month. In that time I’ve seen many complaints on how difficult it is to join. While many of these may be overblown, I do see some merit in it....
minor PSA: we have a Spirituality community now (beehaw.org)
this was made a few days ago when i was off but nobody announced it, so i guess i’m doing that now. the sidebar describes its purpose as follows:...
Ex-Facebook Users, What Do You Use Now?

Accessing Lemmy From a Mastodon Account (vijayprema.com)
I have both a Mastadon and Lemmy account (actually two) as well as a kbin account so I’m fine with having several. It’s interesting to see the interconnectivity of the two platforms. I’d love to see more of this.
The Last Social Network: Your Own
I just read Cory Doctorow’s article “Let the Platform Burn”. It reminded me of something I’ve been thinking about for some time. Instead of joining yet another social network and recreating yourself, why not create your personal social network object and link it to others via a federation of the personal social network...
Stop Trying to Make Social Networks Succeed [Opinion] (web.archive.org)
What if Everyone Knew Who You Really Were on the Internet
Let’s say the internet gets so bad that it becomes almost impossible to carry on a civilized conversation on a social network or to avoid a flood of anonymous emails. The people become fed up and can’t take it anymore. A revolution takes place and a miracle happens: every one is required to get a real id that can be traced...

Will Reddit Kill RSS Feeds
I just set up all the subreddits I still want to following in Reeder, an RSS app. I'm able scroll through the posts ad free. It the occurred to me that this is a loss of revenue to Reddit. Could RSS be the new target for onerous fees?...
Getting Off Apollo May Be a Good Thing
I decided it was time to set up my RSS app as a replacement for Apollo. I created a list of all my subscribed subreddits. Adding them to Reeder, I skipped a bunch of them because they were never of much use. I ended up with less than a fourth of what I subscribed to....
US says Wagner coup is ‘real’ and ‘serious’ as White House consults allies (www.telegraph.co.uk)

There's More to the Reddit Meltdown Than Meets the Eye (attilavago.medium.com)
This article is on Medium, which has a paywall. I'm a member, but not logged in. I was able to read it so it may depend on how many times you've read Medium articles....
Do You Think There Would Have Been a Large Protest if Steve Huffman Just Said We're Charging to Use the API to Increase Revenue?
I've been a long time Redditor and an Apollo user for about a year. I even paid for it. The main draw for me was the lack of advertising. In the back of my head I kept thinking that it couldn't last. Reddit is losing revenue from the lack of advertising views. It didn't...
Does Beehaw just have 33 communities?
I went to the browse communities page. There were 33 communities on the first page. When I clicked next, I got an empty page. If there are only 33 communities, ideally, there shouldn't be a next button or it should be grayed out. It not a big deal, just checking to see if the page is showing everything
