This is pretty fun - in #Swift 5.9 and up, with the ability to use case and if statements to assign, you can very tersely express matching to more than one case of an enum. For example:
@bealex It might not be worse, but I like this switch pattern in case the list of matches grows larger. Also, I tend to assume that there is a branch happening in the "||" operation while the switch can optimize however it wants. Maybe I'm overthinking it though 😄
Young adults who go out drinking: enjoy your beers now. The time will come when you spend as much for a beer at home as you spend now for a beer in a bar. Ask me how I know.
I don't really do selfies much but I couldn't resist the opportunity to get a rather nice #quokkaselfie taken when I was recently on Rottnest Island, and share it with y'all on this very lovely Boxing Day.
My iOS emoji picker was rejected because of ”Guideline 5.2.5 - Legal - Intellectual Property. Your app contains features that mimic the Apple emoji catalog from iOS interface or behavior." Very strange, since Emojis are part of the global unicode standard and I'm just using standard #SwiftUI sidebars, grids and callouts 🤔
@danielsaidi Wow crazy. If would provide a picker than we 3rd-party devs wouldn't have to write one. I worked on something similar for the Remotion app, since we were choosing emojis to "send" rather than just inserting into a text field, which is all you can do with 's picker. (It wasn't in Mac App Store so no issue though…)
@danielpunkass Good plan. Also, look out for a recent batch of tests that got sent out that were recalled. We had to throw away and re-order some recently.
I saw a couple of these on the road a week or so ago, and I couldn't believe my eyes. So incredibly ugly. I had never heard of them, but apparently, they are "trucks" from Tesla? No marking to indicate the manufacturer. Anyhow, this is an accurate picture of both the vehicle and its driver.
I have to give a negative shout-out — a "shout-at"? — to the Covered California website, for being so poorly implemented. It's like having to learn to use the web all over again. Clicking buttons and then having to wait 10 seconds to see if it took effect is par for the course…
The legendary Dan Wood (https://mastodon.social/@danwood@mastodon.cloud) is job hunting. His groundbreaking Mac app "Watson" led to the ubiquitous term "Sherlocked" when Apple introduced their own VERY similar app to his. If you are looking for a time-tested visionary in Apple ecosystems, give him a ring!
