@kf I had a cat who got sick of his harness (it had a gps tracker in it.) so he wriggled out of the harness and then carried the harness into my office and dropped it at my feet.

He did not manage to raise his middle finger at me, but I suspect if I had put the harness on him again, he would have figure that out, too…

a structural weakness of the Democratic Party relative to the Republican Party is the difference in how corruption is perceived.

corrupt Republicans are bold, cigar-chomping caudillos, unapologetic winners who can’t be bothered with your whining.

but Democrats are always on about “Democracy” and “institutions” and “rule of law”. they can’t embrace corruption like a winner, so their indulgings come off as cagey, hypocritical, obvious but pedantically denied, weak.

Ughh... :sad_cat: Thought I could save some storage money by deleting all remote media older than 90 days on 2 instances but those actions plus the normal media uploading is way too much for Wasabi to handle it seems

@stux fwiw, I’ve been thinking about how the Fediverse can use IPFS to store and share media. Yes, there will have to be a server that “pins” the media, but it means no need to replicate the media to many different servers (explicitly).

@interfluidity yes. It’s likely that you either assigned the tweets to twitter or gave them an irrevocable license to use the data.

And like the Apache foundation, they can likely make the argument that the aggregation is a separate work that they own exclusively.

I’ve argued that online services should be data bailees but the law around bailment is waning

@interfluidity at some point there be a legal/social reset. The Great Depression/WWII and the 60s were two examples… just wondering what’s going to drive the next one.

And maybe we can build a society that reflects the lack of scarcity and the value of human creativity… not monetary value, but the joy values.

Okay… I’m overly optimistic…

I think AI catastrophism is mostly a conspiracy to oligopolize and create barriers to entry, access, and control of AI systems.

The true AI catastrophe is what a privileged class will do with these technologies if they can monopolize access, understanding, and management of them.
