drasticpotatoes,

Thanks I had literally no idea what I was looking at in OP’s post.

drasticpotatoes,

Adguard for Safari is good. I switched to Brave recently as well though.

drasticpotatoes, (edited )

If you want to hide something it implies that there is shame in it.

Edit: I didn’t finish my thought. My bad. I meant in cases like this, not in general. There are multiple exclusions to my above statement. It’s what I get for being half asleep and on the internet.

drasticpotatoes,

drasticpotatoes,

Fair points.

drasticpotatoes,

I live in MN. I’m stoked. I’ve been eating edibles (full THC edibles have been legal here for awhile now) and will probably continue to do so, but I’m glad smoking is now legal as well.

drasticpotatoes,

My sister is still in WI. She’s happy it’s legal for me, but sad it isn’t for her. I feel for her and you.

drasticpotatoes,

Yeah, hopefully even as a country we’ll hit a tipping point.

drasticpotatoes,

Anyone have an alternative link for this? My ad block apparently mangled the format so bad I can’t read it.

drasticpotatoes,

Thanks!

drasticpotatoes,

Totally my fault, but other than not reading that it was not designed for mobile and getting so excited that I tried it on my phone and wondering why it wasn’t working, I really love it! It’ll be my main theme on my laptop now. Any plans to also design a mobile interface?

Edit: found out there is already an alternate mobile interface thanks to the comments below. I’ll give that a try later. I do really like the color scheme of Alexandrite though.

drasticpotatoes,

For the record, it does work with VPN. I use a VPN and am successfully using it.

drasticpotatoes,

Hey, thanks for replying. That’s great to hear! It’s looking great on my laptop. I’d really like to be able to use it on my phone as well. Excellent work!

The Weekly Discussion Topic - Roguelikes - 28-07-2023 (lemmy.world)

Hello all, this is the first post in a series of posts I’ll be making weekly to drum up some diverse discussion relating to all different aspects of gaming. I figured I would start with what I know, and so the first topic is thus: roguelike games. (If you think any of the below description is wrong or misleading, let me know -...

drasticpotatoes,

One of my least favorite genres.

drasticpotatoes,

Most of it boils down to death as a core mechanic. I’m also a pretty casual game player and most of the games I like are fairly laid back, so the difficulty is also a factor. Although I do like difficult games sometimes, I don’t like games designed to kill you easily, if that makes sense. I dislike grinding and most leveling systems, so making a game have grinding as a necessity for someone like me who’s going to need it is frustrating. I feel like I’m just dying a bunch to get “level ups” so that I can actually play the game. Feel free to ask clarifying questions on this. It’s a bit difficult for me to explain, I’m finding.

For the record and to hopefully explain with an example, I do like that they exist for people that like them and some games are fairly clever with it. Hades, for instance, makes a lot of sense to have a death mechanic because you’re trying to escape the underworld. It’s also a really clever game in general and I wish I could get over the difficulty and meta progression thing to play it. If it was a less difficult ARPG I’d personally like it more, but it wouldn’t contain the thing that makes it what it is and I think I’d rather it exist as it does for people who like that. I also love the idea of descendants being your respawn that they used in Rogue Legacy.

Thoughts on why small talk is so uniquely painful (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Image text: @agnieszkasshoes: “Part of what makes small talk so utterly debilitating for many of us who are neurodivergent is that having to smile and lie in answer to questions like, “how are you?” is exhausting to do even once, and society makes us do it countless times a day.”...

drasticpotatoes,

Same. If someone doesn’t want real answers then they shouldn’t bother asking.

drasticpotatoes,

I did as well. Time to find some mind bleach.

drasticpotatoes,

Nvidia drivers aren’t nearly as bad as most make them out to be. If you already have one, I’d say give it a try anyway with a distro that offers good support for them.

drasticpotatoes,

Can confirm. I offer it to most of my friends who are switching and have Nvidia cards.

My Opinion: NewPipe, Piped, Invidious, etc's days are numbered.

With Reddit shutting down its API setting a precedent in the corporate tech world (and Reddit was a major outlier in that a ton of their users are technical minded and support third party clients, YouTube does not have that kind of userbase and will not get backlash for it), Twitter doing whatever the fuck they’re doing, and...

drasticpotatoes,

There are a few creators who I can’t watch anywhere else, but as soon as Invidious stops working I’m out.
