Drupal 10.3 and 11.0 beta1 are available! Beta versions are good testing targets but should not be used on live sites. 10.3 is planned for the week of June 17, while 11.0 is planned for the week of July 29.

The biggest blocker for Drupal 11's beta release just landed! PHPUnit 10 is the new testing system. Running tests on PHPUnit 9 will not be supported in Drupal 11 anymore due to incompatibilities. But tests can be compatible with both PHPUnit 9 and 10: https://www.drupal.org/node/3365413

Experimental recipes APIs landed in Drupal 10.3/11.0 a few hours after Dries demonstrated them at @drupalcon This includes experimental config actions, checkpoints and default content APIs. And a standard recipe suite that can be selectively reused! https://www.drupal.org/node/3445169

📣 The new Navigation module is a big step forward for aesthetics and customisability. It just landed as alpha experimental in Drupal 11's development branch. If declared beta in time, it will also be in Drupal's 10.3.0 release. 🤩

Drupal 11.0.0-alpha 1 will be released on the week of April 29, 2024. There are only a few remaining blockers to get to beta and to make the stable release on the week of July 29, 2024 possible.

The Drupal community will evolve the Layout Builder into the Experience Builder, enhancing its intuitiveness, expanding out-of-the-box functionality, and introducing in-browser theming capabilities. Workspaces was added as experimental to Drupal core in 2018 to help prepare & review sets of content all at once. Based on uses in real scenarios, all outstanding stability requirements were resolved, so Workspaces is now a stable module for Drupal 10.3.0! https://www.drupal.org/project/drupal/issues/3088643

Drupal 9.4 introduced starterkit theming, 9.5 made it stable, but 10.3 will make it significantly easier, allowing to control the cloning of starterkit themes through a simple YAML file.

This is a huge improvement for themers who want to enable their themes to be starerkits.

Drupal 10.1 introduced the experimental Single Directory Components module for frontend components. It has proven itself well since then and will be stable functionality merged into core's base system from Drupal 10.3 (to be released in mid-June)! https://www.drupal.org/node/3410260

Automatic Updates will be in a future version of Drupal core. The 3.0.0-beta release is out now, allowing unattended (cron) updates to be enabled via the Update Manager settings. Drupal 10.2 coming next week is the first release to adopt native PHP annotations, meaning that some plugins can now be defined with native PHP syntax. More plugin types will gradually be converted, while Doctrine annotations are still supported. https://www.drupal.org/node/3395575
