Yeah, the 2016 seems to not exist anymore, if thats the one you talk about. A huge miss that one. Though I wish they’d kept the one interesting character.

The current previous one, Afterlife, from 2021, was great. And obviously not retconned.

And this new one seems to play a bit too much on getting the original team back together for nostalgia, and too little focus on the new team of kids. But thats just the trailer, I’ll withold judgements until I’ve seen it.

It was okay. Looked good, had good gameplay mechanics, and a good main story. Not a big fan of stories told through small pieces of scattered notes and audioclips. And side missions could been better.

I’m glad it comes to pc finally, because while it isn’t a game worth buying a game console for I’m still looking forward to see where the story goes.

Consequences wouldn’t be a good ending for them.

Nah, a charlatan has class. Musk doesn’t.

And when you finally get the game to run, it needs to compile shaders. Then it need to download another update, from inside the game (and sometimes even restart the game… Looking at you, MW2! ) And the user agreement have changed so you are forced to scroll to the bottom of one or more LONG legal text before you can click “Accept”. And then a season intro cutscene (fortnite and CoD games does that). Then maybe a “Whats new” screen…

I remember Commodore 64 games could take up to 30 minutes to load. But at least I could just go make some food while waiting. Didn’t have to sit there and press buttons.

What kinda multiplayer do you think they’ll add? DM or TDM? BR or some kind of other looter shooter? Coop missions? Coop campaign?

I always want more like what Watch Dogs 2 did: Random invasion of people creating a bit of chaos, life, and unpredictibility in my singleplayer campaign. But seems thats soo much work and so little popular that Watch Dogs dropped it for their 3rd game. What made those multiplayers unique, and they just dropped it just like that for a under-developed coop missions with battlepasses.

If the models were trained only on data that was out of copyright it wouldnt have been an issue, but nobody want to train on only 100+ years old data. Copyright laws are too long when their content arent culturally useful by the time they are free for public use. It hinders the creation of useful tools, among them these generative AIs. Maybe time for some reduction of those laws to something useful, and at the same time increased strictness for businesses to misuse copyrighted content?

They are all named some variant of “tutorial_Ch01” or “testprogram” probably. And one repository named “My Unnamed MMO” (or some other overly complex but trendy genre) that has like 12 lines of code so far and a crappy drawn pixelart png.

Seems like its a common mistake, maybe brought on by its use as a stylistic choice in entertainment. “Myguy vs/ Yourguy” became “MyGuy v⚡s Yourguy” became the abomination that is “v/s”. Probably. I’m no etymolog.

The generic white muscled male, who can do anything the plot throws at him (with only a bit of fake struggle), and gets the girl at the end, is so damn overdone in every media. People talk about characters being Mary Sue when John Sue is way more common.

I want variations in my fiction! All kinds of genders, preferences, cultures, opinions, and species. The only rule I have is for the fiction never to encourage cruel acts IRL.

That was a coincidence, I’ve just started watching it! Season 2 now. Love it so far. But Sokka don’t deserve being such a buttmonkey, considering how often he is right.

Idk, I don’t feel like I can relate to some bad-ass. /s

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

But you can only choose one. That isn’t very realistic. 😄

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

Oh, the game where you could choose between the furry-suiter plumber, or his occasionally crossdressing brother. Thats pretty diverse, right?

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

I’m pretty sure it was only one in at least one of the Fallouts. But yeah, you are right, in NV one can choose both.

One tries to recreate an RPG campaign as close as possible to table-top RPG, but on a computer. Was the original definition back when “possible” was very limited.

I’m no fan of sports games. I dont play sports games. Also the kind of people I hang with also dislike sports games. And the last sport games I read about, a decade ago, had horrible reviews and awful graphics. So therefor I declare the Sports game genre for dead! /s

Huh. I was wondering about the name change when I bought FC 24 for my nephew this xmas. He made it very clear that they had changed names so that I didnt buy the wrong one, but he didnt say why it had changed. 🤯

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

It would probably only have sold as much as D:OS 3. Which wouldn’t have been a bad sale either, just not as much as BG3.

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

True. Still a damn hard feeling to get rid of.

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

They probably did, and it did nothing, as in most monster/alien movies. Then the MiB showed up, sent it back up, and mind wiped everyone involved.

@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

Don’t you give me that sarcastic Vulcan salute!

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

We forget much of it but its still in our head somewhere. Theres been so many times a dream reminds me about another dream and act as a sequel of sorts. Days to years back. How much storage do we really have up here?

Could be that dreams arent stored at all, that if dreams are just random neurons following random-ish paths then they occasionally they hit the same pathway again and replay stuff, maybe?

If only it was just boomers then the issue would soon have solved itself. Seeing people younger than me continue the tradition of fear and hate is sad.

emptyother,
@emptyother@programming.dev avatar

Cool! Stuff like that wasn’t around when I played it last.
