Now there’s a good entry in the man vs. bear saga that explains why I felt so strongly about it.
If a woman says she’s prefer the bear to a man, the men who ARE like the bear and would have her by force if necessary won’t give a damn, but the ones that aren’t, who might be available to form an emotional bond with her, will have their patriarchal wound reinforces and thus be turned off.
So what that statement is really doing is reinforcing the patriarchy. It’s just another way of saying “men are all the same and nothing will ever change that.” It practically guarantees a continuation of the status quo and eliminates all possibilities for healing.
That’s rich coming from an American but I’m also surprised these haven’t become a thing here yet. Americans love convenience over everything, including human (or animal) dignity.
I suppose the single serving version IS a bit wasteful but other countries do have those as well, they’re just slightly larger and come in tin cans instead.
As heartening and insightful as this story might be, I find it difficult to imagine that someone with this much hate would at the same possess enough composure to state his problem clearly, take part in the Buddha’s spiel about it, and then not punch him in the face at the end.
And I’m not suggesting that this would be a better outcome by any means, rather, that stories like this are sadly sometimes woefully inadequate to deal with the amount of anger and rage that continues to pervade modern society.
No I get that. I’m just saying in a real life situation, the other guy might not give a damn about whether you accept his hate and let you have it anyways.
I mean, there IS the story of Angulimala, a vicious murderer who had already slain 999 victims and was looking to make it a round thousand when he ran into the Buddha, but try as he might, he could not catch up to him, even though the Buddha was walking calmly.
So clearly, he does indeed NGAF because he is in possession of some mysterious force powers likely reserved only for the enlightened, but what is an average person to do in such a situation?
So is Trump threatening these journalists somehow, or paying them off perhaps?
As I recall, journalists had no difficulties being critical of him before, during, and after his presidency, writing countless of hit pieces without suffering any sort of consequences.
To my knowledge, none of them have been disappeared, sued, or otherwise silenced, the worst that would happen to them was Trump tweeting something mean about them in retaliation.
Why would they be afraid all of a sudden to be critical of him?
