The news that snowdin.town is going to be closed down really made me extremely sad. Met so many wonderful people from there, with such amazing, warm energy. At the same time, I completely understand aofie's reasoning and see why they have made the decision.

At the same time, the situation further reinforced me in the view that fedi instances are really something special. Seeing one shut down like that feels like a neighborhood pub that you forged some good memories in go out of business.

These spaces feel so personal and human, which is I absolutely love fedi, with all its pros and cons.

I honestly blame the opaque and downright narcissistic scum who operate those block lists for this. I’m sure they’re rubbing their hands with glee at the thought that snowdin is shutting down. They got what they wanted.

A safe, anti-racist, anti-fascist, and pro-trans space gone because of their baseless accusations, holier-than-thou attitude, and their ego getting in the way of accountability. It was an uphill struggle for our admin to even attempt to right these perceived wrongs and I admire them for their tenacity to try to right them.

I will never forget this little town. I have far too many fond memories and fond friends from here. I will remain a snowdinite in my heart for the rest of my fedilife.

To my fellow Snowdin residents, I am blessed to be have spent nearly six months of my life with you here. I have made so many new friends and had so many fun interactions. I cannot imagine how much worse my life would be without my fellow residents and friends. It really did feel like we lived in a small town, where my neighbours are always happy to chat.

My thank you goes out to Velveteen, who has been a wonderful Moderator and also for putting up with me repeatedly spamming her with emojis.

Most importantly of all, I want to thank Sophie for their tireless work being our admin. I want to thank them for creating this wonderful and beautiful space for us on this corner of the Internet. It is a task that comes with burdens I cannot imagine, and for that, I have a gratitude and adoration for Sophie that I don’t think I could ever repay.
