If the descentralization of social networks continue, we will have to prepare for the eventual rise of the instances wars, where people will start to fight about which instance is better and which one is weird to be in and so on, but that’s for the future of us all.
I was using Bing to create a list of countries to visit. Since I have been to the majority of the African nation on that list, I asked it to remove the african countries…...
I came across this setting, but I’m not sure what it does. What is an activity? What are the files of that activity? I watched this video, so I have an idea of what activities are, but it still doesn’t clarify what this setting does.
But i can’t seem to upload images for some reason so never mind…
Look, when you right click on a directory in dolphin, you’ll see the option “link to activity” You can see your activities by pressing “meta + q” and cycle with “meta + tab”
then, when you link the directory through a particular activity, then when you are in that activity, you will see that particular directory on the desktop if you have selected that option “Files linked to current activity”
You know activity? Like you can have different widgets, different wallpapers and different windows open in different activities. Like if you’ve got two activities, you can think of it as two sides of a coin.
I would like to be able to configure a shortcut that allows me to, for example, switch one workspace to the right by the shortcut + . I tried configuring this in the “Shortcuts” section of System Settings, but it didn’t appear to work.
Well, you can scroll through the desktops if you have that virtual desktop widget on your pannel. Or have you tried making a shortcut? In gnome, it’s meta+scroll wheel so maybe give that. Try
I started using kalender as my task manager because of the recommendation, and I am really liking it but right now I opened it and it shows me my mail tasks 3 times for whatever reason. How can I fix it?
Just as the title suggest. Is there anyway we can prevent Lemmy from being such a giant sphere of political annoyance just like Reddit? No matter where you go on reddit before the API changes and even now, someone has to bring politics into it. Even in post or subreddits where it’s not needed....
I’m with you on this … somewhat. I’m tired of everything being political everywhere. I hate how every discussion goes down with politics. One way to “achieve” this would be if you or someone like you made a lemmy instance where nothing political would be allowed and we were to browse that locally. I myself hate both left wing and right wing equally so I’d love a place where I’m free of politics.
The other way is much simpler, which is you browse through communities and find what’s political and what’s not and subscribe to them and only browse through your subscriptions.
However it’s neither possible nor justified to not allow people to get political. 99% of the internet is made of politics and sex
I see a lot of people angry about redhat’s decisions of not wanting to redistribute source code to others but I think that should be completely within their rights. The way I see it is like I am a developer of let’s say a music player. I make my source code public because I want people to see what they’re downloading and...
I’ve never had Instagram😂 so kindly explain why I can’t just see everything like lemmy? Logically we all can see each other’s content here so that should be the case there as well no?
If Lemmy and Mastodon continues to get popular, we will eventually get Instance wars.
