NZ government could learn a lot from the forms and design system in gov.uk

It’s fast, easy to understand, clear, and quick. Sooo good

Well that was fun

Finally caved and bought a new TV. Old was a 2013-era 720p 32” Sony. New one is “Smart” 43” 4K TCL. $500 from Costco

It will never be on the network. It’s a dumb panel for the Apple TV.

So far so good. ECE appears to work (power on/off, volume). Has a “basic” mode which disables GoogleTV. Can tell it to start on previous port. Headphone out for our Tivoli

And yes TCL had a security thing. But without wifi or Ethernet that’s not really an issue.

@janl@narrativ.es avatar

@fastchicken yup, that’s exactly my thinking.

fastchicken,
@fastchicken@mastodon.nz avatar

According to a wonderfully Sparkley Op(erator), if you add these to pihole or similar the TCL can’t do its tracking thing

So that’s a good backup

Leonie opened WhatsApp to message someone.

“What the fuck is this MetaAI? I didn’t ask for this shit. How do I turn it off??”

Quickest way to lose a customer.

Been finding it funny listening to @caseyliss @siracusa and @marcoarment argue about blue/green bubbles.

I only have messages for sms 2FA really

@caseyliss no. 99% is signal. (Ok maybe a bit less)

1 human on telegram. A couple of groups on WhatsApp. 2 groups on iMessage. Rest is signal.

More from lack of need to change. Or that one person who doesn’t want to move.

I tend to meet my (less technical) friends where they are vrs try to move them…

I have exactly zero green bubble friends. But I have lots on android.

@caseyliss btw loving the car talk on ATP this week. I need to check what the BYD Atto 3 is on - Google Automotive I think - next time I rent one.

Facebook isn’t on my usual MITM attackers for app security. But it needs to be.

Onavo tho. I remember emailing them and got a reply from their CEO pre acq: “no we don’t MITM”

Sure bro. I can SEE it in my logs. That’s why I’m emailing you.

Had a bit of fun with CEP's format of "things we chose/did/used in the past X years" post, but for Tend..

@fastchicken very useful, thanks! Note, twilio is dropping video - we’re going to have to migrate. Will take a look at tokbox.

ok, so: on a mac.

I have (lets say) 5 mp3/aacs I want to merge together, possibly change the speed (eg 105 or 110%) for one, with pitch shift, possibly add a loop of the track + the last 33% of the track (eg 2 verse+chorus, and I want to repeat the last V+C again)

What do I use?

zl2tod,
@zl2tod@mastodon.online avatar

@fastchicken
ffmpeg? Audacity? Though how you do all that on a hamburger I dunno.

fastchicken,
@fastchicken@mastodon.nz avatar

@zl2tod yeah. I might try audacity.
