Instead of automatically generating a password for security questions, you should come up with a random answer and save it in your password manager. It’ll be much easier to type it out/say it over the phone

As we roll into Pride Month, remember the convo isn't cis people versus trans people. Nah, that’s bullshit.

The convo is about decent human beings versus irrational bigots who want to harm people not like them.

Dehumanization is not something that one negotiates. Ever.

I don't get how causing harm to others can ever be considered rational, be it eugenics, genocides, child labor, or anything of that sort - people who think that these things are okay simply because they can come up with an explanation (by saying workload or whatever) is inherently inhumane and therefore irrational themselves. You cannot be inhumane towards others and be rational at the same time, and anyone who claims so is either lying or don't know any better.

As a side note, I just wanna say its very disappointing to see how much of the online discourse have now shrunk down to just arguing over semantics. Bad faith actors take words used by progressive thinkers and twist them into their own agenda, they do this by pretending like context doesn't exist. Words like rational can mean entirely different things based on the context its used in, so maybe we should focus more on the context rather than the word itself.

Just to be clear, I was commenting on a wider phenomena which I started noticing online these days, they were not directed against em or anyone in particular. And I never said that studying semantics is useless or not important, just that it shouldn't overshadow most of the important sociopolitical discussions we're having. When someone out there is speaking out against homophobia our first instinct shouldn't be to correct their language or choice of words.

[1/2] In the upcoming TBlock GUI, there will be an option to notify the developers that you are using the software that they developed.

This will be a one-time process, that will be, of course, disabled by default. Only the version number will be collected (and optionally the platform name, i.e. "Linux", or "Windows", etc.).

This information will only be used to make us happy and motivated by seeing that people are using our software.

@tblock As far as collecting telemetry goes, I think this is the most private & transparent way to do it - you're collecting as little information as possible without logging any unique identifiers like IP address, and most importantly its opt-in and the data is also made public. Some people may find the popup a bit concerning if its shown on startup, but this is also subjective.

@tblock I just wanna be clear that I don't have any issue with opt-in telemetry, there might be a few people who find the popup annoying but not for me, a lot of other popular apps people use are much more aggressive about their telemetry so in comparison Tblock is just much better. And if as a developer you wanna know how many people use your software, and maybe their version number and platform too I think its fair - these can be useful information, not tracking.

One of the main reasons I wanted to share my listening activity on Spotify was so that maybe if I’m listening to sad music, somebody might notice and check up on me

No one can ever know what you're going through and the extended of it all, but I'm sure if you just reach out for that help then you'll realize there are people who care.

@blueberry if you know a good therapist then you can safely share things with them. Its important to note that even tho people care about you they might not know how to respond when someone shares their trauma with them, that is a skill in itself and not everyone is good at it 😅

@blueberry To be clear I'm not saying you shouldn't share your feelings with people, just be careful to pick someone who's good at this stuff and slowly go through everything instead of dumping it all at once, in the end its for you to decide who you wanna share these things with and how much.
