Current List:
• Doom At Your Service (9?/16)
• ???
• The Untamed (46/50)
The ??? might be determined by a poll, though I haven't decided yet. There's a couple of shows that have caught my eye enough for me to just start watching them, so...
Also on my recently completed list:
• The Ghost Bride
• Semantic Error
@glitchontwitch So it was probably you who wrote whatever it was that brought it to my attention again 😊 I'd been trying to figure out where I'd read that. (My memory is shite & my watch list is too long.)
Mix's character is my favourite from Moonlight Chicken, which was my intro to Thai drama. He'll be the reason.
I don't know Krist yet. I liked Pran but Nanon's character in Blacklist was usually grumpy and one of the least interesting so I need to see more for him to be a proper favourite.
Fa's commentary in the beginning reminds me of one of my #MonsterHearts characters.
Which is fun, bc I also use that character to explore some Brain Themes™. (Depersonalization and Derealization in specific.) But I'll ramble about my void #ghoul again later.
End of the Year Drama Challenge 2023
I'm gonna try to make this a thread. Yay for the ability to edit posts, I suppose? I'll also link in the post(s?) that isn't (aren't?) in order.
I realize this may seem obvious but from what I’ve seen on lives, some people have difficulty with this, and I’m trying not to be a jerk about it, so:
It’s okay to be sad that two artists whom you are used to collaborating together, stopped. It’s okay to have an emotional reaction when your faves break up.
From idols groups, to acting ships, to a world famous dancing duo who were openly a couple, quietly breaking up, personally and professionally.
@glitchontwitch i wrote something longer to explain my thoughts better. am going to let it sit and come back to it again to make sure it's hopefully good enough before i send it to you.
@glitchontwitch Yep. This is something that will forever cycle in fandoms. There will always be new and/or young fans who need to be taught how to respectfully consume material and what is ok to approach creators with.
I wanna rant a little about Dinosaur Love. It’s not great. By any means. I will say some of its handling of things manage to have some glimmers of what could be good in the mediocre. I was worried about how they were handling Mek, but it worked out? Maybe?
But right now I want to focus on how the narrative handles one character: Seekram.
And this will get into spoilers but honestly, the show is so scattered that none of the spoilers matter. It’s all filler.
Also you’re not really missing out on much. It’s not got a lot going for it. Some little details here and there, but… It mostly just oscillates between yikes, and meh.
There is someone with a pet snake though. So that’s neat. But he’s barely on screen.
And, thanks. :blobcathug: I appreciate the letting me know I’m seen and stuff thing. I was admittedly worried I came off like I was just rambling incoherently.
@glitchontwitch You were clear, and I found it interesting. Will certainly give this one a miss. My yikes tolerance is particularly low just now so I appreciate the heads up.
Take care
“[Paired acting duo] now dating after being caught kissing in public.” Weird how the video thumbnail has:
• one picture of them kissing — from the show that popularized them
• one picture of them being cute together at a fanmeeting — you can see their in-ear headphones!
• a solo promo picture of one of them
Seems legit.
I hate stuff like this. It comes up so often. They’re just there to scam whatever ad revenue they can off of clicks. And presumably it’s profitable enough to keep at it.
There’s more I can pick apart about the practice of these videos and how they parallel tabloids without the budget.
And some thoughts about how much of themselves performers do share just by being performers and maybe it’s a good idea to let them set the pace for that, instead of trying to grab more.
Like, when I say I aggressively “don’t care” if they’re dating or not, it’s not that I’m hostile to them dating— or not dating. I’m not even hostile to finding out that they’re dating. Good for them, etc.
But I am hostile to the flurry of people who insist on making it my business (which it isn’t) for their personal gain, ideological or financial.
@glitchontwitch If you go in as a cat-sitter/dog-walker with ferret experience, that will probably be your best path forward! Assuming you don't mind cat-sitting/dog-walking. 🙂
Some people get really weird when they find out a piece of media is from anywhere in Asia.
Like, they immediately make it a Thing™️ that I enjoy it. They get weirdly resistant to watching/listening to it. They suddenly become adamant that it needs to be in English for them to do so. They also indicate that it’s weird that I am not.
Even when it is in English, they’re still weirdly resistant.
But if I point out what this is starting to sound like, they get really defensive. :blobcatthink:
@glitchontwitch My favourite instrument is kamancheh (Persian spiked fiddle); I'd love to have the auditory memory to better understand how it's used in Kurdish, Persian diaspora cultures. Also Kurdish & Persian classical traditions in general.
Difficult would have been the Breton discs when I was living hand to mouth, there wasn't much on the internet & maybe I knew a couple of musicians or tracks. Had to go to Breton fest deiz for Loened Fall. 2/
@glitchontwitch Satisfying - I collected early Beatles re-releases when I was maybe 13-15. Was delighted to find pre-Ringo Silver Beatles & the man as the cash register informed me that it didn't include Ringo & I got to tell him that was specifically why I was buying it and one-up his attempt to be the expert. Then I found the boys backing up Tony Sheridan :D :D :D
But also random things from the library like Hanggai's 1st album, Mitzoura (alt-Roma), Kerekes Band (live gig!), Kayhan Kahlor
@emmaaum I feel a little silly that I thought Nhai was just clumsy enough to trip while sitting before considering that Ai might be being a jackass.
To be fair, Nhai is very much a flake. That’s kind of his thing. He’ll drop things he just picked up bc he’s careless. He can get lost anywhere. And he’s always losing a plastic duck his father got him to teach him responsibility.
He’s also an aeronautical engineer major in college.
@emmaaum no that's absolutely fair. I was just kinda jarred myself bc I found out through Joong Archen's insta story.
Which makes it the second time I've found out about something really important and alarming in Thailand through an insta story of an actor I follow.
But it's also okay to not have words to express things. I mean all I could really say to express my feelings on it was "Fuck." so I'm not judging people for being similarly unable to really say much.
I dunno if I've mentioned her before (and a cursory search points to no), but I wanted to call attention to #InnahBee and her cover dances. Not all of them are #KPop, but most are.
@glitchontwitch i don't have any solutions. i've just withdrawn from most hot button conversations. no point in trying to contribute anything when it will just be read as if it were whatever turns me into an enemy to be taken down.
it's such a mess.
