good morning friends,

here is the report prepared for law enforcement in regards to the happenings of may 20-23, 2023. we spent a lot of time meticulously gathering information over the weekend after I was certain everything was secure.

the attacker deactivated his account so in order to retrieve most of this I had to fetch and restore a backup of our database from the 23rd. reminder that if you run public services you should run multiple backups weekly and store them locally and off site in the event something like this happens.

im thankful for everyone involved from helping me track down the vulnerability, to those who are helping others patch it upstream and the entire community for coming together to resolve this for everyone in a timely manner

this gab thing reminds me of what people had suggested we do to generate more income -- one of the suggestions was to limit uploads to people who are donors/patrons. i pushed back on the idea because it's jewish behavior to retroactively change or limit the functionality of a website to drum up income. if we ever were in that position i would just limit filesizes for the short term to curb the issue.

this is surely a death knell for gab and i will be very surprised if its not an exit scam
