Rolled credits on yesterday at 162 hours. The endgame was a bit of a tedious slog, and I could nitpick endlessly, but wow, what a tour de force this game is. I did do an absolutely unapologetically goody two-shoes route and it was much more satisfying than in a lot of other games where the "good" ending is a sort of bland default. For example, it's a bit tricky to do this:

@glyph Soooo .... what about DLC, and what about "patches" that are not, quite correctly, "changes"? There's a whole damned minefielf here.

@glyph TBH I kinda forget where I was at when I wrote that, though the current grousing about "live service games" plays into that for sure. As in, if it has a good view of a socket connection it appears that that is what qualifies.

I may have been under the influence of some mind-altering substance or other at the time. Please disregard.

@soragrey When I went through Instructor Training in the Navy, one of the things they did was make us give a presentation in front of a camera and then watch the tap.

So I've played about 10 hours of Starfield and have mixed feelings about it so far.. I feel like I'm forcing myself to play to find out when it finally starts to feel fun? Maybe BG3 spoiled me, but it's feeling very meh with a lot of little things annoying me, like the UI, sound effects, and a couple companions. Dialogue and story haven't been that interesting yet.. but I'm hoping it gets better.

@soragrey It's just a Bethesda game. With space ships. My take is if you like Bethesda games, you'll like this. If not, you won't.

This is as opposed to games designed as space games like EVE, Elite, or No Man's Guy.

I like how Astarion's tent has two goblets with spilled blood out front and a hoard of blood-filled jugs inside and he's still pretending like there's nothing abnormal going on. Maybe I should throw "The Curse of the Vampyr" book at him to get him to fess up

The whole discussion around gen-z not being as tech savvy as millennials becauae they've grown up just using well-designed apps is blowing my mind a bit.

But it makes sense. They aren't teaching themselves html in notepad and building geocities homepages with background midi tracks playing while torrenting music, movies, and Photoshop (for your homepage design obvs). They're watching tiktoks, sending Snapchats, setting up Amazon storefronts for commissions and making playlists to share in spotify. They experience the internet on their phones, tablets, or Chromebooks hooked up to Google apps for school. They never needed to learn about the guts of things, and no one taught them.

@soragrey There is an argument that the zeitgeist is mobile, and one must keep tabs on that else be labeled (sudder) an $ancient

I am so much into watching this thing and trying to find "the stream. " What is the "win" and do I even care what is is? Or do I just care what is cool for cool's sake?

As I have joked before, I get life by draining the energy of the young. Decide for yourself if I am an internet vampire.

(also I want a quarter for every time that is repeated)
