Hello there! Im looking for increased privacy when it comes to my network connections. So far I know of TOR as an almost absolute bastion of security, but how do I ensure the remaining network traffic is encrypted and private? I know of signal for communication, and I’m aware of VPN’s. However I’m not sure whether to trust...
Semi related but there has been so much anti VPN stuff of late on the web. I blame the big vpn providers for their miss marketing and poor ads from sponsoring deals. The repercussions are making it out like vpns are not useful. Noone thought they were silver bullet before. now they are made out to be a waste of money? All the “you don’t need a VPN” stuff needs to stop. Im concerned people are gonna stop caring about anonymity and enhancing privacy with VPN.
Hi peeps, I’ve just done the transition and removed Windows and chose Garuda to be my flavor after having tried a lot of other ones first. Does anyone have any tips or must to-do’s right out of the box after a fresh install?

The discord vc isn’t private but listening to a conversation in real time and picking out key points, who said what and then translating that to recommendations seems a challenge but not impossible. A speech model could do this but that would be quite insane. It seems more likely that the recommendation was based of off previous searches and predicted correctly.
If Dc was listening like that I would expect to see some weird shit cos I talk random stuff in dc voice
For me its honestly a ton of my work software (digital forensics), shit is too niche to be replaced by good FOSS options. Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom, etc. Autopsy is great and free and has a linux version but it simply cannot get the same level of data without a pretty nutty level of custom code....
What harm does public data have to you? Couldn’t one just ignore the ads? You can’t see anyone watching you, is public data good for public records? (I’m just curious). I know this sounds weird but is public data good for historical preservation and knowledge increasing the importance of the individual? And does public...
