I’m sorry to tell you that being an island doesn’t help when the internet and globalised media exist. Australia has plenty of right wing dipshits in government taking notes from the US too.

I’m thinking of scaling down. When I started brewing, everything was 5 gallons. After having made some terrible beers over my time, and with so many options I want to try out and compare, I was thinking of scaling down. For example, if I wanna compare yeasts, maybe I make a SMASH beer but 2x1 gal. Use yeast A in the 1st gal...
Yeah I make smaller batches to test out recipes and when I’m making beer styles that only I’m interested in. I have a kegerator but it’s at my in-laws’ place and they aren’t very adventurous beer drinkers so I’m not gonna make 5 gallons of a Belgian dubbel, etc.
For the smaller batches I usually do 1.5 - 2 gallons (6 - 8L) and then package in swing-top 1L bottles that I immediately rinse and dry after finishing the bottle. Using swing top means I don’t have to mess around with caps and I can also reseal the bottle immediately after pouring to minimise loss of CO2. Using 1L bottles makes it a bit quicker to do the bottling - plus, I have a blichmann beer gun which is a nice luxury that saves a bit of time and potentially helps minimise oxidation.
TL;DR It was an old Wang system, 286 processor(I think, anyway), with no hard drive, a 5.25" floppy drive, and a lovely green monochrome monitor. I didn’t have it long enough to reach the point where I could have identified the actual hardware/specs....
Commodore 64, probably around '86 or so. It had a tape drive and games would take like 20 minutes to load. Crazy to think about now.
Later on (probably around 1989 or 1990) I got an Amstrad 8086 PC. IIRC it had maybe 1mb ram (pretty large for the time) and a massive 20mb hard drive. I remember playing games like bubble Bobble, the Sierra adventure games and so on. A few years later I got a 386 DX PC and played a lot of wing Commander and privateer, dune 2, LucasArts games and so on.

I know it says Lemon lime on the label. Doesn’t change the fact that us Aussies call it lemonade.
I dunno, I’ve been out of the country for the past 12 or so years so maybe things have changed significantly over that time, but for my entire life up until I left, everyone calls Sprite & similar drinks lemonade. No one I know ever made the distinction between Sprite (lemon-lime) and something like Schweppes lemonade (Lemon only), they were just both lemonade, unless you specifically wanted a specific brand.
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
The Dark Knight has fucking terrible editing and a lot of bad, hammy acting. The opening bank heist is just bad, with really on-the-nose dialogue delivered pretty badly…even William Fichtner seems like he’s trying a little too hard, and he’s an otherwise good actor.
I know the editing has been covered in some YouTube essay that made the rounds a number of years ago so maybe that’s not such an unpopular opinion, but it really sticks out to me like a sore thumb.
Before anyone gets totally mad at me, I still enjoy the overall story, a lot of the action, and I think both Ledger and Bale (dumb batman voice aside) are great. Also, Morgan Freeman, Michal Caine and whatshisname who plays Harvey Dent are also very good too.
Another unpopular opinion I have is that spider-man 2 is pretty good, but not on the level people seem to put it on. The train fight is good, the overall plot is decent, Alfred Molina is a good choice as Doc Ok, but the whole split personality thing came across to me as kind of cheesy. At least Willem Dafoe’s scenery chewing in the first movie was highly entertaining.
