hahattpro,

nad, an cheap Android phone for less than $200 can do the job.

hahattpro,

Now I am surfing lemmy more than reddit, simply because lemmy load faster.

A new NES emulator was briefly available on the Apple App Store (www.theverge.com)

Now, clicking on a link to Bimmy shows “This app is currently not available in your country or region.” This time, it wasn’t Apple that removed it but the developer. Over on MacRumors’ forums, the developer said it pulled the app “out of fear.” “No one pressured me to, but I got more nervous about it as the day...

hahattpro,

If those emulator is open source, can user build and install themselves ? or they have to wait for some dev to put it in the store (and pay Apple $99 yearly) and charge fee and/or ads.

hahattpro,

What the point of data collection tool that required you to turn it on ?

hahattpro,

I live in a comunist contry.

hahattpro,

Vietnam

hahattpro,

The only party leading the country is the communist party.

So, it is communist ideology.

The government said the country is ‘socialist republic’ to look good with other capitalism nation like US, so we can trade and make $.

The only legal political party is the communist party. There is no other legal political party.

hahattpro,

Just curious, can you raise the rent and evic if tenant don’t agree to pay new price ?

hahattpro,

If the contract is up, is there a limit or can you increase at much as you can ? Can you refuse to renew, envic the tenant , then put up higher price ?

Jails banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls as part of a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with prison phone companies (arstechnica.com)

Across the United States, hundreds of jails have eliminated in-person family visits over the last decade. Why has this happened? The answer highlights a profound flaw in how decisions too often get made in our legal system: for-profit jail telecom companies realized that they could earn more profit from phone and video calls if...

hahattpro,

this dude rock. he talk about social problem in the fun way.

hahattpro,

weew, thanks the strange knowledge have been learnt.

hahattpro,

Who really pay for Adobe pdf suite ?

Really I can find many open source solution that can edit PDF, even OCR the PDF for free (you might need to run OCR engine with your CPU, or pay for OCR service)

hahattpro,

I think, because Corp. In Corp, they want someone to be in charge, and take reponsible when something mess up. It is easy for IT to proposed to buy a solution, because the vendor take responsible for mess up, rather than use open-source and have to fix bug themselves.

There are also case where developer push malware into open-source.

hahattpro,

This is another example, corp pay to use open source (tidelift.com). They are paying to have someone to cover them if something mess up, like a reliable mantainer.

So i think that why corp still pay for pdf solution, e-signing and stuff like that rather than implement from open source solution.

hahattpro,

that also mean old stuff do not get update too.

And because nowaday everything is locked (walled garden is the term you need google for) , it is unlikely the device will be useable in few year. Unlike a computer, you can install anything on it.

hahattpro,

Reddit official website and app are slow, click took 1-2 sec to load. Scrolling to the end it pause like 5 second to load more content. I don’t know why, it feel like they do it on purpose.

When I use 3rd UI back then, thing was blazing fast, whether it is on chrome PC or on my old android phone.

hahattpro,

I think it is too keep the ads on your screen a bit longer before you scroll pass it.

hahattpro,

I have seen an Chinese novel have long title, like “A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality”. But the author was not make long title on purpose, as original title have only 4 words. Because there is no single word in English with rich meaning as it is Chinese , so they have to describe it out.
