Dat excuus ook weer: het is niet omdat je belangeloos een functie hebt in een organisatie, dat er geen belangenconflict kan zijn. Zijn vader is voorzitter van de vereniging, dat is geen vrijwilliger die eens een dagje de handen uit de mouwen komt steken. Dat is de man die de lijnen uitzet. Dat je collega's je op dat conflict moeten wijzen is erg, dat je nadien je keuze blijft verdedigen en het probleem niet ziet is om bij te huilen. Volg een opleiding deontologie man.

Things I learned over the weekend I didn't necessarily wanted to:

  • Food poisoning can quickly lead to dehydration and is far from ideal during a 4-day bike-packing trip. Luckily it hit the last day.

  • Riding in the back of an ambulance is a surprisingly shaky experience. Luckily I was strapped in tight.

  • Being very tall means your feet touch the rear doors of the ambulance.

  • The siren is surprisingly silent in the ambulance itself, which was nice.

  • First aid staff really rock.

People sending me e-mails, me replying to them only to find out that their mailserver is blocking my mailserver for weird reasons, forcing me to reconfigure my mailserver so I can get through with their mailserver which immediately blocks me again for "abusive behaviour". Well, sorry, fan of my blog. You'll never get my reply I guess. Also dear mailbox.org: your laziness wrt throwing blacklists in your server config is excluding small servers. You are NOT helping with decentralising e-mail.

@jwildeboer on my mailserver I got a notification that my IP was listed in Uceprotect L2 (which is a whole IPv4 /16 subnet from Hetzner). The only way to get a whitelist exception was to pay a subscription.
L1 (IP address itself) was still OK.

My personal little mental health trick. I have a notebook and a pen at my bed. All the negative things, the moments where I felt bad for internal or external reasons, I collect them during the day and put them in the "will write this down this evening" bucket. In the evening I take my notebook and already 90% of what I thought belonged there has disappeared. The few things that make it are safely stored there. Every 31st of December I burn the book, unread. and replace it on 1st of January.
