My new hue outdoor (SML004) reports wildly different lux values than my old (SML002).

Direct sunlight: old - 25000+, new: 7000+. That's a three fold difference, atleast.

@jan my BH1750 sensor reports way above 20k when hit by direct sunlight so that new hue is wrong, or they encoded the readings differently

Edit: I see Tasmota supports the BH1750 so making your own should be doable?

@nixCraft should try to use the same profile for 15+ years, no need to keep any tab open to see FF take 20 seconds at full disk load to start. Just google firefox loads slow high disk activity

Got new windows and new (motorized) blinds.

No docs, but I got the up/down wires right first time, I figured a black wire can be associated with closing (dark room).

Or I had 50% chance, they just connect them randomly but I like to think somebody in the factory was reasoning about it like me 🤷‍♂️

So I bought a bunch of stuff to build an #epaper #weather display based off an #esp32 board, sort of mixing and matching stuff up from a few project I had found.

I had assumed that the hardware would be supported by #esphome, but the amount of stuff that especially me actually supports is... Disappointingly low.

So, besides learning how esphome works, I now get to figure out how to add a 3rd party library in there and how to write a panel description so it can drive it.

Fun times ahead, not.
