On Twitter I see a lot more people shitting on Series S|X than PS5, now I’m no Microsoft fan but that console has far superior backwards compatibility to begin with, and they have plenty of older games with “FPS boost”. Sony doesn’t seem to want to do this and I don’t get why, it’s entirely possible and would probably help PS5 sales.
Worst part is you just know Sony will go out of their way to try and patch around this.
Yes the architecture is different but that’s not the point I’m trying to make. Microsoft are actively pursuing backwards compatibility and trying to make it better, FPS Boost and enhanced resolution are both such prominent features that they’re advertised on the Xbox store for each game that has them.
It’s something Microsoft is pushing for, FPS Boost was developed by the Backwards Compatibility Team, they then work with developers to implement it with past games. PS5 has Game Boost but aside from it just being there Sony isn’t offering the same assistance for developers to improve older titles, if this was an Xbox game you bet Microsoft would be helping to implement FPS Boost and get it to 60fps.
I’m planning on moving to linux from windows(personal) and macos(work use), although I prefer mac os, so I don’t really want to use mint, and I feel like I should add that I don’t care if GNOME isn’t that similar to macos, I want something different, and I also use my computer for gaming

100% there’s a hivemind. That’s why I joined lemmy.one, downvotes are disabled to try and stop hivemind downvotings and encourage discussion. On local communities it works well, if only more of the bigger federations disabled them too.
Unless anyone knows another reason for this impressive increase in comments? Seems to roughly coincide with Sync launching. If thats the case, just goes to show the importance of good third party apps....
Sync for reddit used to be able to hide the vote buttons too on the cards and comments. I nearly never use the downvote button anyway, so hiding it in the 3-dot meny prevented me from misclicking it. I usually only showed the upvote and save button....

This app is still in beta, it isn’t finished yet, that’s why you can’t post. I’d rather use Sync in beta than the other apps.
Yes the app has ads, this is his job, he has to be able to eat, the ads aren’t intrusive.
$20 is nothing, you have to remember Lemmy’s userbase is SMALL, so he has to up the price compared to his old Reddit version, other apps may have charged $5 of whatever, but that doesn’t mean they should have done, it should have been more.
I’ll easily spend $20-30 on a single dinner, but an app I use every day for hours it’s too much? I’ll spend $60 on a game I’ll play for 10-20 hours, but on an app I’ll use for far, far, longer it’s too much?
Personally even in the beta state, it feels far more polished than any of the alternative apps. If you don’t like Sync or the price, don’t use it. But to be personally, Connect, Jerboa, Thunder, Voyager, and the rest, are inferior (and yes, I tried them all)
The tracking is just part of the Google ads, it’s not a separate thing, so if ads are disabled then it isn’t intermented so no ads or tracking. The guy wants to be paid for his work, I don’t think that’s unfair.

Discord doesn’t care about privacy, if you do then Discord isn’t the service for you. You could use a burner number, or host your web VoIP server where you don’t need to worry about your privacy.

I don’t know where you are, but in Europe it’s much cheaper to buy a used Gasoline car. I just got a 1L petrol car for the equivalent of $10k, I can’t find a good electric car for anywhere close to that.
I found all of the prior Lemmy apps to either be missing something, clunky, or buggy. The one I liked most was Voyager/Wefwef, but even then it was missing stuff.
Now Sync is in beta and has bugs, but thanks to past development from Reddit it’s already so much more polished than all the others, my Lemmy usage has gone up considerably, I’ve barely touched Reddit today. It does have ads, but they aren’t visible when using DNS Adblocking.

Some form of exercise, I like weight lifting (bodyweight fitness is also fantastic)
Be disciplined and go even when you don’t want to because when you’re there you’re glad you are. If you progressively overload every workout you aim for a new best, something to strive for. Then at the end you get the happy chemicals. Working out is amazing for improving mental health, and you get good visual and physical health benefits too.

This game is as much like Vampire Survivors as Overwatch is like Team Fortress 2. Similar looking genres but the gameplay is wildly different when you get around to playing it.
It only cost me a few £ on Steam so was well worth it.
