@appleinsider “The DOJ is concerned that SMS being only available in Apple's Messages app and not available in third-party apps is an anticompetitive move on Apple's part.” - Verizon Messages+ app has been around since around the time Verizon started selling Tablets in which allowed sending and receiving SMS across devices, even iPhone and iPad. Messages+ app is set to come to an end on June 30th, 2024. So technically, SMS wasn’t “only” available through the Messages app.

I'm really hoping Apple will bring automations (for Shortcuts) to macOS this year, even better if they allow third-party apps donate automation triggers. Imagine a calendar app could donate calendar event start / end triggers and people could create automations in Shortcuts based on these events.

@cstross @9to5Mac Why would they though? Just like they made the Move to iOS app for going from Android to iOS but they didn’t make one to go the other way as that wouldn’t make sense to help export out to the competition.

A fine for anti-steering rules preventing the competition from displaying sign up opportunities outside of the AppStore is absolutely different than a company creating a tool to export the data from said company app to the competitors app. This is more like the San Bernardino case where Apple can’t be forced to create a backdoor to the OS to allow others access to it. The IE scenario has no play in the discussion as it’s not a similar thing.

Apple is researching how to make the Apple Vision Pro see if users are sitting properly, and moreover to not blame the headset if wearing it puts a strain on their neck muscles.

@matthewcassinelli Are you taking the approach recommended by @_inside ? If not, I’ve done the restore process and attempted to restore from the cloud. Once the device rebooted, back it went back into the same state before the restore. I may have to setup as New.

@matthewcassinelli Restore from iCloud brings the same issue. @_inside has discovered that the cause of the issue is having Back Tap enabled and I did and that setting is saved in the iCloud Restore. Hopefully they push out a new release then I can update to that and then restore from iCloud backup.

@_inside I attempted this process prior to the post and clicking Update gave the same bricking symptom but clicking Restore worked but required restore from iCloud due to data being erased from the rewrite of the software.

@viticci Same here. I tried to then do a option+click update using the IPSW file and that gave the same result. Now trying to do a restore from the IPSW. Will let you know how that goes.

@viticci I was able to restore from the IPSW, now have to do all the iCloud restore stuff but device is back up.

@viticci I didn’t. After doing the up vol, down vol and hold side button for 10 seconds to get the device to power off, I then turned it back on to see the Apple Logo and then held down the down vol and side button until it showed the Restore screen where it shows the USB-C Cable image.

@viticci Seems like this has failed as well. After going through the setup screens and the device going through it's restore process, upon rebooting, it goes back to that spinning wheel. Rebooted again, and now a blank screen. Now about to restore again I may have to setup as new. If you haven't went this way yet, do attempt @_inside approach with iMazing.
