In a recent post I talked about anti-Indigenous behaviour and though I was focusing on white peers deciding what is and isn't racism, it is obvious from the post that I was attributing the original attacks onto Anarch0Nina.

This is notice that I was wrong. I spread misinformation. It was a genuine mix-up by the person or persons who informed me. Abuse did occur a few weeks ago. But it was not done by the afforementioned.

Regardless of how I feel about said user, it is wholly inappropriate for me to continue without publically sharing this.

I've seen an awful lot of non-Jewish and non-Indigenous folks these past few days decide what is and isn't antisemitism and racism, either of their own accord or they spoke to another Jewish or Indigenous person who didn't see things as harmful.

But if someone punched two people in the face, and one found it really painful and the other didn't, does that mean that the one in pain, isn't, actually?

I was not punched in the face, so why the fuck would I decide whether it was painful or not?

It’s almost funny how far the conspiracy theories about Fediverse admins are removed from reality.

Like, some people believe we’re making big money off of this for example and you know the “profit” is usually like a pizza once or twice a year.

Or the “secret meetings” where we supposedly pull all the strings. It’s just a discord channel with a mix of tech support, venting, and haphazard group therapy.

@esther I understand how it happens, we're in a position of power and we have private conversations about moderation of other servers.

The only thing that pisses me off is the idea that we all act as one. I'm not suspending someone just because m.art did. I've never done something on here just because someone else did. You and I discuss each "high profile" limit/suspension we want to take for sometimes days before we reach an agreement.

And that Discord channel, one where I'm the only other moderator and work to make sure that sort of groupthink doesn't happen.

@esther I'm not taking it as a personal attack, and like I said, i get it. I'd probably have those suspicions too if I was just a regular user of the fediverse and saw the shit that popped up here every so often with zero context.

Obviously it doesn't reduce our bias significantly, because we are still you know, in love and all that shit.

But when one of us two admins gets reported, the other one deals with it.

And so far, I think Esther gets reported the most and it is absolutely just misogyny from the most boringest of cis white men.

I'll be earning more money soon and I already earn enough as a tech worker. Coupled with being newly medicated for ADHD which has reduced my impulsive spending, I am doing my budgets and realising I'm spending less.

So: spending less, earning more.

I've decided to increase my monthly spending budget, and the money that doesn't get spent will be donated to support various people and groups I believe in.
