Spooks, S06E01 and 02 (and I think 3). This is from 2006-2007.
It's about someone introducing a biological weapons/virus into London.
In a post covid era, it is facinating to compare how script writers handled this in that era versus what actually happened for covid. Many similarities.

Yeah ! Yippie ! Montréal finally gets its grey alert for wednesday's snow. 10 to 20-cm. At present, the grey alerts cover only Québec. So Hull gets 10-20cm of snow, but Ottawa gets nothing 😉

Amtrak serves Norfolk Virginia.
Yet, Carnival chose to hire a fleet of some 60 buses to take the thousands of cruise ship passengers from its ship that docked at Norfolk to Baltimore where it was originally destined.

If I were Amtrak Joe Biden, I would order an investigation on why Amtrak was not the preffered transporter for that many people and make sure that is fixed.

If I were head of STM, I would collect station announcements from metro systems around the world and on morning of April 1, substitute each Montreal station announcement with that of a station in another city. Big question is where to put Tsim Sha Tsui? New York’s 42nd announcements with long list of connecting lines would be for Berri.

Lynx Air news:
Lynx Air had ordered 46 Boeing 737s back in 2015, renegotiated price down during 737 grounding/COVID to very attractive prices. 9 were delivered.

When Lynx Air went kaput at end of February, the contract for remaining 37 was seen a one of its most valuable asset to be sold to another airline who could then get those 737s at price much lower than current price.

This past week, monitor announced that this plan fell through (cont).

British TV series Spooks S05E10 circa 2006
Secret document policy uncovered during a terrorist attack meant to flood London. MI-5 head presents it to the deputy PM and her aide.
When you consider real-life inaction by governments since then, one has to wonder if that could actually be true.

@nerd4cities In one of your recent videos looking at convention centres. you wondered why the Montréal Palais des Congrès had such a high pedestrian rating. I will provide some background on why.

In late 60s/early 70s, a highway was built to allow traffic through downtown from bridges without clogging downtown streets. Partly tunneled but mostly as a ugly scar/canyon with promises to cover it up eventually.
The new congress centre would be one such effort to cover the scar.

@heliomass The big central atrium at Place Bonaventure. The yellow arrow points to where the doors to the train platforms are/were. There were steps between that floor and the carpeted level in middle, and stairs/escalators between the middle and main shopping level.

There were 2 wells down to 4 tracks west of the well for tracks 9-10. Had CDPQ used those, it could have made stairs go DOWN from platform and then south direct to the Bonaventure métro station (which is between Peel and Mansfield under de La Gauchetière). CDPQ would have had to negotiate rights with CN to pass under it HQ.

The south western end of Bonaventure métro station has an elevator that gets right in the elevator banks for the Chateau Champlain hotel (being built in pic 2).

It's AIS is disabled so can't know where it is.

Trivia: IMDB says that John de Lancie only appeared in 8 episodes of Star Trek TNG.

  • All Good Things... (1994) ... Q
  • Tapestry (1993) ... Q
  • True Q (1992) ... Q
  • Qpid (1991) ... Q
  • Deja Q (1990) ... Q
  • Q Who (1989) ... Q (as John deLancie)
  • Hide and Q (1987) ... Q
  • Encounter at Farpoint (1987) ... Q

Amazing how with only 8 episodes, he became such a prominent character part of Star Trek "culture" (with bleed over to other Star Trek series).

Ro laren got 9 episodes.

In Montréal, the span of the Jacques Cartier Bridge between the Island of Montréal and ÎleSainte Hélène has one pylon into water and it doesn't have any perimeter protection, though this appears to be a far more robust one than the bridge in Baltimore.
