Mercedes-Benz is now the next company to scale back BEV projects. As I keep on saying, BEVs are a fad. They are an expensive and unsustainable type of vehicle, and cannot be the future of transportation. It mirrors the past green fad of biofuel powered cars, and it will be abandoned in the same way.

@Hypx battle is on in EU as electrolyser mftg are asking EU to counter China industry destruction as they did for pv heavily subsidized . Same scenario will repeat for electrolysers but Chinese techno is not at EU level but they can learn .

The new hydrogen Toyota Crown price in Japan is less than 15% higher than the entry-level Mirai in Japan.

The fuel cell version of the Crown will cost ¥8.3m ($55,412). The Mirai costs ¥7.1m ($47,431). The Crown has a driving range of 820km with a three-minute H2 refill.

P.S. The calculations in the article may mislead. The title states the Crown is almost 20% more expensive than Mirai, and after nearly 17% in reality, the difference is under 15%.

With recent articles, Michael Liebreich is becoming more and more like Michael Barnard. For those who don’t know, Barnard is a guy who became so delusional in his opposition to , and so obsessed with batteries, that he started to proclaim that people will simply abandon entire industries rather than switch to hydrogen. So industries of steel, fertilizer, aviation, etc., will either disappear or radically shrink by 2100 according to him. Liebreich is now starting to say the same things.

As I explained previously, the BEV market is just an artifical market propped up by massive subsidies at every step. Without them, it will shrink dramatically. There is simply not enough virtue signallers for this industry to keep this up.

Reminder that few people want BEV mandates. Same with heat pumps. Green policies of the future must involve better ideas like hydrogen, hybrids and plugin hybrids, nuclear, possibly even e-fuels/synfuels.
