Every so often the benefit of wearing a bicycle helmet is so great that it can't be ignored. I really should have worn one this morning...

... not for cycling, of course, but when I climbed a ladder in the garage and bashed my head.

@hembrow I was going to say that machine looks quite like a RadioShack Model 100, which a friend owned in the 1980s. And yes, very much so: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Radio_Shack_TRS-80_Model_100
Great vibes!

Turned down an enthusiastic invitation to a fistfight in the Costco parking lot. Doing fine, but still adrenalized.

How's your Thursday going?

Support line person said they're doing a software upgrade. I politely didn't ask "well how long will that take?"

I have been waiting for this story to drop: @mpesce stumbled upon LLM Kryptonite – and no one wants to fix this model-breaking bug

Models with flaws can be harmless … yet dangerous. So why are reports of problems being roundly ignored?

@kcarruthers @mpesce This is bad, right? "When I tried sending an email to security@its . domain, I got a bounce. Qu'est-ce que c'est?"

Wow, I've seen some terrible website bugs in my time, but this has to be the worst.

Entering passenger passport information into leshuttle.com. As soon as you click "Save" for a passenger, it decrements the date of birth by one day!

I even got one of my kids to watch the screen while I reproduced it.

I'm now in a quandary. It would appear I have to deliberately put in incorrect passenger information in order to transit back into my own country. Would love to know legal opinion on that!

After a long slog, I've finished an initial test of this idea: a few of the longest rivers (depending on how you measure) in Michigan, modeled after the comparisons that were popular in the 19th century (e.g. https://www.loc.gov/resource/g3200m.gcw0013960/?sp=6&loclr=blogmap). When time/energy allow, will do more later. Your feedback is welcome! See this thread for a few bits of context, highlights, and some detail images.

Let's see. NetBSD 10 implies 10 kernel versions in, um, 30 years almost? Averaging 3 "point" releases per version, that's 1 kernel upgrade per year, max. I'm ignoring NetBSD 0.9 and prior (patchkit 0.2
2) as lesser products.

jspath55,
@jspath55@chaos.social avatar

@netbsd I installed and ran every one from 386BSD on, other than 2 machines (1 was an IBM BL2) where I put FreeBSD instead.

I've implemented the BAdI VSCAN_INSTANCE (Interface IF_EX_VSCAN_INSTANCE) of the Virus Scan Interface (VSI) using the Malware Scanning Service in https://buff.ly/3UKN2rk . This question remains: Is the usage just from an on Premise ABAP system allowed or does the usage with a deployed app makes it legal?

jspath55,
@jspath55@chaos.social avatar

@gregorw "Legal" as in allowed by software service contract, or "legal" as in national statute?

jspath55,
@jspath55@chaos.social avatar

@gregorw Ah. Like Tom Waits said, The large print giveth and the small print taketh away.
