I think being a patient gamer makes more sense nowadays (or at least since PS3/PS4 days) than it did before.
Many games are unfinished, unoptimized or need patches, and all this annoying experience is for the users which I like to call “unpaid beta testers” then when all the needed fixes arrive we can fully enjoy the best experience, at the best price.
Inspired by a post since deleted, I feel bad for probably coming off judgemental about the poster’s taste in the movie that drove him to consider sailing....
Hmm, this is an interesting question, as I live in a 3rd world country it is hard to pinpoint exactly which event drove me to this beautiful world.
With that said, the first console that we ever had (sis and I) was a PS1, it came with Gran Turismo and DBZ Ultimate Battle 22, I think.
Anyway, I was probably 6 years old, and my dad took care of chip it (took it to a place, it is common to do that in Mexico) and then I got the pirated games for dirt cheap in flea markets and such, a similar event happened with the PS2.
But when I truly sailed the seas for myself, at least in a gaming scenario, happened when I got my Nintendo DS phat, I quickly knew about a R4, and managed myself to find ROM sites, homebrew, heck I used to use Windows Live Messenger in that little thing lol (DS Lite at that time).
I mean, I pirated software for PC and possibly burned some games for the PS1/PS2 before having the DS, but having unlimited portable fun with the DS (and then the PSP) was when I turned into a no return point.
Hmm, this is kinda funny to me, where I live we usually don’t have or don’t use dryers, we have “ropes” where we hang all the clothes, laundry is usually done at weekends and the clothes can stay there all day if needed (which most likely don’t).
I mean, we have a freaking imponent sun right now, we better use it (36 Celsius right now).
The performance is adequate for the typical Nintendo games but you can’t tell me the recent pokemon games or Zelda TodK run great, barely hitting 30fps.
I think you might know this, but a hacked Switch can be overclocked (to both safe and unsafe values) and you can pretty much fix most of the bad performing games (you can’t fix ass broken games such as Batman Arkham Knight though).
So yeah, still many games will look and behave better somewhere else, but OC the Switch can lead you to good results, if you have any over there and wanna give it a try (newer models require hardmod, which sucks, but once this annoyance is sorted out, a new true era will begin for the Switch lol).
Safe values will hardly make any significant temps increase, and still give you a better experience.
What is wrong with the OLED version BTW?
I have the original Switch and that thing can be hacked with a paperclip lol and after many years of usage and OC my battery and unit still performs well, according to some homebrew tools the battery is like at 90% of its lifespan, granted most of its usage is docked, but the “additional heat” is there yet.
Yep, nothing beats Sync, although the other existing apps are great, and have been great since the beginning if you ask me.
If you wanna know why I chose Sync instead of any other app is because the damn app can survive even the worse ROM you use and it doesn’t matter how atrocious your RAM management is, you are likely never gonna miss the position you left when you minimize and open other apps.
The app basically saves the state where you were and it is highly unlikely that you lose the track of it, even on aggressive RAM management ROMs like MIUI, it still stands better than the others, I experienced the same with Sync for Reddit.
On raw performance might, the M4 really does live up to Apple’s promises, should deliver. Single core is up about 20% compared to all M3 chips and more than 40% compared to M2. The generational computational leap from the previous M2 iPad Pro is at least a 42% jump on single-core and multi-core.
Perhaps with a more robust OS, such as Linux or macOS the battery and thermals would just not suffice?
I mean, an iPad is basically a larger phone, which I think can get hot enough if pushing it to its limit
Also I don’t think the RAM would be enough for intensive tasks, the device as it is could be pretty good for gaming though, if only the title list wouldn’t be a shit for the most part.
But at the same time, a MacBook Air doesn’t seem much bigger compared to the biggest iPad available.
It is, but it would be like saying Android is just another Linux variant.
What I want to stress in my initial comment is that the OS is so heavily modified and focused on optimization and RAM management, that it can’t hardly work for power users when multitasking is on the board.
I recently got into fighting games (like: kof - street fighters - Mortal Kombat - Guilty Gear…etc). Now you can pirate the game, and you can play it online with someone if the two of you agree on using same pirated copy and Hamachi for example, but where do you meet these people to play with? are there dedicated forums for...
I’d use Thunder more if they had mark as read while scroll, and hide read posts (I think they already have the later) if these requests are outdated please lemme know.
