@useless_modern_god@StudChud I was one of those who only ever popped into r/melbourne when there was a specific local reason to. A bit like Whirlpool forums but not for tech, just for local Melbourne-specific stuff.
I like the integration of these more general conversations about general Life Stuff here, and feel like there's a lot more that I am likely to comment on if a question is one I can answer / have some experience with.
I like the !Melbourne vibe and because it's in my main Fediverse feed, I see content that I just wouldn't have gone to r/melbourne for.
@RustyRaven@bot001 Scrap this reply. I was thinking Humidifier, not DEhumidifier, my brain not work. If you are using gas currently yeah you'd need a dehumidifier with that, but beware, while not needing a dehumidifier, you may want a cool mist humidifier in your future!
@RustyRaven@bot001 why wouldn't you need a dehumidifier? Is there a type of RCAC which doesn't dry the air? 🤔
I definitely notice the difference if I have mine on overnight and don't use the dehumidifier, which I only do if the temperature outside is going to be extra low, but I live at 500m so that is relatively often in winter...
@just_kitten@Outlier1031 agree. get your leaving plan together asap, that is a shitty thing to do, I'd talk to Fair Work about it asap, that kind of action is the job of a FULL TIME manager, not a casual staff member, regardless of your role. Get something about the duties you have in writing if possible.
@danwritesbooks@Thornburywitch where are you? I moved to La Trobe Valley a year ago and love it (though I still am back in the city every second week for work) and hope the local school stays open (heard rumours it might close) though once child is high school age will consider moving back for 5 years.
@Goddess_Amaterasu not too bad, about 1-2 weeks. if you order a bunch of stuff they may come in several packages a few days apart. They say they give you a part refund if shipping takes longer than they estimate, mine were well within the time frame they gave.
@Goddess_Amaterasu@bot001 yes, but not directly, I ordered from eBay and then got the order value refunded as they didn't post anywhere on the auction that they were drop shipping. Hot tip 🔥: I do that every time someone does that from Amazon - I don't give Bezos money if I can help it, and anyone not being clear on eBay they are drop shipping from a large competitor seller are breaking the TOS and deserve to get penalised.
@brave@Goddess_Amaterasuraises hand yup, is basically mostly $2 shop type stuff, some good kitchen bits & bobs for cheap, best buy so far has been an under cabinet light which works flawlessly with motion detection for $12, and a really good plug hair catcher with excellent suction cups that I viewed dubiously when opening, for $1.50. A few things I haven't found that useful or cheaper quality than images suggest.
