kuzcospoison, to pokemon in What's your favorite pokéball design?

I love the look of heal balls. They’re basically useless but use them over any other type of ball

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in How to get over not having a good college experience?

Honestly the only friends I still speak to from college I met in my last year. By then maybe you start having the same classes with certain people so it’s easier to introduce yourself or discuss homework. If you still want to meet people the last year or two are the best time to make real connections. But as everyone else has said life tends to open up in different ways after college anyway

kuzcospoison, to sciencefiction in Book suggestion: LONG Space Opera (or sci-fi or cyberpunk) packed with action and cool characters

I’ve actually really been enjoying the Warhammer 40k books, started with the Ultramarines omnibus, fun sci Fi fantasy

kuzcospoison, to pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Mystery Gift codes: How to get free July 2023 rewards - Charlie INTEL

Despite the performance issues I thoroughly enjoyed violet. The story is kinda neat and it’s nice having different challenges to go along with. Ended up being one of my favourite modern pokemon games

kuzcospoison, to titanfall in Northstar v1.17 has been released!

What’s the Northstar population like these days?

kuzcospoison, to nostupidquestions in How do meteorologists measure sea water temperature?

In general, measurements like that of ocean temperature are sea surface temperature. However, the ocean mixed layer (can vary between 10-100 metres) can be typically uniform in temperature and salinity

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in What is a good old school mp3/flac player I can simply drag and drop files into and be on my way?

kuzcospoison, to honkaistarrail in Best Blade team composition for F2P?

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in How many Lemmy users are non-technical background?

Not technically in tech, I’m an oceanographer but work with numerical modeling so ehhhhh

kuzcospoison, to math in Random internet people explaining math better then math teacher

It’s funny, with the increase in use of numerical models, so much math has been turned into computer code. Derivatives and integrals as well are defined by finite difference formulas that serve as the basis for the notations. The point of them isn’t to explain, it’s just to simplify writing and reading it. I agree it can be a bit obtuse but if you had to write out a for loop to solve a math equation every time it would take forever lol

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in What online games can be played by 2 users?

This is great, thanks for posting, will definitely be checking this out.

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in What online games can be played by 2 users?

I’m sure there’s quite a few traditional board games that have online or app version, like risk for example. Iirc there’s also Scrabble, scythe, Catan, and I’m sure others. I can’t speak to the quality of the apps but I would recommend just searching for any games you’d be interested in playing and seeing if there’s a version on the app store.

kuzcospoison, to asklemmy in What series did you rewatch most often?

Man I love aqua teen. Just found out that the adult swim website does 24 hour marathons of some shows and been watching through metalocalypse too

kuzcospoison, to pokemon in Trade Board Desires

Could we do a pinned thread for trades for now then if it gets big enough go from there?

kuzcospoison, to news in Ocean heat around Florida is ‘unprecedented,’ and scientists are warning of major impacts

Of course there’s cycles but even removing decadal trends, it seems like there’s there’s still an increasing trend in terms of intensity. And slower years of extreme events in there could be somewhat related to the climate hiatus period but I’m not 100% on that. And you’re absolutely right that prediction and modeling has gotten substantially better but that doesn’t mean these storms won’t still be costly. It’s an interesting issue for sure
