It will design the machines to build the autonomous robots that mine the cobalt… doing the jobs of several companies at one time and either freeing up several people to pursue leisure or the arts or starve to death from being abandoned by society.

We ruined the world by painting certain men or groups as bad. The centralization of power is the bad thing. That’s the whole purpose of all Republics as I understand it. Something we used to know and have almost completely forgotten

when you get into these nitty gritty copyright/ip arguments you realize it’s all just a house of cards to make capital king and the main ism

I agree and I gave that option as the last one in the list.

The model T will absolutely not replace horse drawn carts – Maybe some small group of people or a family for a vacation but we’ve been using carts to do war logistics for 1000s of years. You think some shaped metal put together is going to replace 1000s of men and horses? lol yeah right

To play devil’s advocate – Liberalism, or the idea that the people who are ruled should have a say in the rules, started coming about ~500 years ago. The elite’s were all always evil and bad to the masses, enslaving us, paying us very little, even clocks and timekeeping were used to trick workers into more hours and when pocket watches became available, they were just banned in early industry.

A lot of people fought and died to establish the idea of Liberalism all the way up to unions and workers rights. So, in a way, ‘we’ did fight for those things and earned them over a long time. It does kind of feel like now the same ‘we’ has forgotten the value of that stuff and the sacrifice it took to get there.

I still don’t really see this as our fault. We live in gilded age II where money is virtue no matter how its acquired. The internet broke the stable propaganda machines and we’re in flux of stabilizing around the new ones and kicking out the smaller bad actors.

Take a shit on the passbar, screech like an alien in a movie and then just walk out… or at least that was always my fantasy

Oracle can see the source code

What? Surely that’s not true

Especially for real law, you would have to define propaganda which I don’t think has really been done.

I have thought about it and I don’t see why all information isn’t some form of propaganda because you’re either bias on purpose by trying to persuade or bias by what you’re aware of and know which can’t be all information with our tiny human minds.

How do you measure bias without having some objective physical level model of the truth even?

I think the argument against TikTok and other Chinese companies is probably that you wouldn’t allow Facebook by Chinese Communist Party and this crosses the line into that. To be fair though, you could probably ultimately make the same argument for US companies. Why is there so much money available for ads for VPNs compared to the financials of that market? Only a few answers to that one…

lanolinoil,
@lanolinoil@lemmy.world avatar

to not would mean someone is controlling the propaganda I.e. all information

Yeah, that’s true-- but all the laws where ‘a reasonable person…’ make me feel like the porn definition “I know it when I see it!”
