There will be multiple reasons. I suspect this mostly co.es down to lemmy.world being victim of a DDoS recently.

Additionally the Lemmy code itself now has mechanisms to stop instances forever trying to send content to offline instances. The code isn’t perfect and has been known to have false positives. I’ll check tonight if this may be the case here, though this was supposed to be addressed in Lemmy 0.18.4.

There are other possibilities, but these are most likely in my mind.

Highly recommend ABB to anyone. They run a great network, and follow through on their promises.

The kiwi’s have spun something up over here

Not a stupid question at all. If donating will cause you any issues, please don’t 😀.

I’d like to get to a point where I can prepay for the server for a year, as this will lead to a lower overall price. However until server resource requirements stabilize this isn’t possible.

None of the donations will be spent on me or for my personal enrichment. If I ever close aussie.zone down I’d be looking for suggestions on where to donate any surplus funds.

As it stands we’re in a good position and I’m not worried at all. If things do ever become a worry for me, I’ll keep everyone informed.

I’m far too disorganised to coordinate that. Though I’m sure someone from /c/Melbourne will 🙂

0.18.3 is the latest, updated to it yesterday. As for indexing, I’ve not explicitly blocked any search engines.

I just checked google, lots of results. Not sure where/what you’re searching for.

I’m not aware of any options or configuration for this. It seems to be a global default. It may be something that can be changed client side with something like LemmyTools?

Just for clarity, the aussie.zone’s finances etc are fine. I’ll be aiming to post monthly updates such as this every month. Thanks again to everyone that has contributed, money won’t be an issue for the foreseeable future for aussie.zone.

Since the post you linked to there have been many improvements in the back end of lemmy. Similarly the discovery that the bulk of storage consumption was due to a database table full of data that isn’t required. Due to this lemmy is scaling much better than it did early on. We can comfortably cater for many more users on the current server.

I’ve also been posting a series of nerd updates with recent server stats and some commentary. tldr; we’re in a good spot right now with no need to upgrade the server in the immediate future.

You format it like this:
[series](https://aussie.zone/post/321431)
Here the word “series” links to the URL in the brackets. You can do this easily by selecting the word you want to become a link, then clicking the https://aussie.zone/pictrs/image/6a2362b5-15e8-4f67-9038-6bc2654d134c.png icon and pasting the link between the brackets it creates.

What do you mean?

I think it was an internal lemmy DB cleanup task. Disk utilisation dropped during that same time, but wasn’t due to any of my cronjobs. No way to tell for sure without being logged in and watching it at the time, which I wasn’t.

No, sorry. That would be legally risky, and I don’t have the time to take on more commitments.
