Ron DeSantis, I bite my thumb at thee.

I’m sure everyone’s giggling over the reference to British civil engineer James Henry Greathead, who oversaw the excavation of some of London’s earliest deep level tunnels. The Greathead Tunneling shield that bears his name is a manually operated precursor to today’s tunnel boring machines; Doretta is obviously their descendant.

At least. If you work an 8 hour day, a 0.5 hour commute each way adds an extra 12.5% to work time commitment each day, and it’s considered unpaid time.

This is the first time in the “true” timeline we’ve seen Jim Kirk, other than in a voice call with La’an. The previous two instances were from alternate timelines thanks to the Klingon time monks and a fallen Department of Temporal Investigations officer.

What are they going to do, invade Ukraine? Sorry, Russia, you don’t get to pick a fight then get sympathy when you get hit back.

What’s the story with the TV/VCR and a external independent VCR?

They’re also loosing agricultural and construction workers as DeSantis’s anti-immigration policies drives away illegal migrants who filled those positions in under-the-table jobs.

They did create an armored Voyager model for later in the episode. I’m guessing they decided not to use it in the opening shot to save it as a surprise for later.

The new busy intro was introduced in season 4, with “The Way of the Warrior.” They’re probably repairing battle damage or adding armor.

Mastodon was the morphing phrase & zord of the original Black Ranger.

Elon’s “Move fast, break stuff” philosophy includes municipal codes.

‘Dovercourt’ (likely S31 movie) moves up to ‘Preproduction’ in the DGC Ontario hotlist - more details (www.dgc.ca)

There were media reports last week noting that a new CBS Studios production, under the pseudonym ‘Dovercourt’, had been added to the Rumour section of the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) Ontario hotlist....

I guess if they already have a script, they’re past the WGA strike and can work on it till they hit the SAG strike. (I’m assuming the strikes impact Canadian productions on behalf of US studios?)

The GBA was a great system; my only complaint is they didn’t include X and Y buttons. Some games could have benefited from two more face buttons.

I haven’t seen the Advance Wars series brought up yet. Great strategy game.

It also included every SNES track. No paid DLC or anything, just play the GBA courses well enough and you’ll unlock them.

How it started would be a WWI biplane like the Nieuport 28 or Sopwith Camel, but I don’t think the F-35 can fly slow enough to fly with one of those, unless it’s the Marines’ VTOL variant.

I bet there’s a pretty good overlap between “people who preferred old.reddit.com” and “people who left Reddit in disgust.” Thank you.

An NNTP binding would be a bit more directly mappable, as Lemmy’s more analogous to Usenet than email. Each community would be a newsgroup. Still, NNTP and SMTP are pretty closely related, to the point that Outlook Express supported both email and Usenet. Subscribing, reading, posting, and commenting are pretty easy concepts to map, only up and downvoting are unsupported.

It is going to be tricky to regulate, but the expedition ship does come back to shore to resupply. They don’t leave the sub adrift on the high seas, they bring it back with them, and I imagine it’s easier to do maintenance on it on dry land, or at least in the protected waters of port.

Makes you wonder if he finally changed the name under social pressure, or just because he thought he’d get a better price for the team under a more marketable name.

I guess the timeline didn’t quite snap back to plumb after “A Quality of Mercy.”

Even if they decided to go back to Crusher as CMO in season 3, it’d be nice if she got a guest appearance at some point. For all we know, she fell down a turbo lift shaft after “Shades of Grey.” (I wouldn’t blame her, it’s an awful episode.)

mercano,
@mercano@lemmy.world avatar

Technically, Muldaur was never a series regular, she was billed as “Special Guest Star” in all her appearances.

It seems like everyone would be better off if we did away with tipping and paid works a fair wage instead. Employees would know how much they’re taking home every week, and customers wouldn’t feel pressured about how much they should add on. This is already standard at many restaurants for larger parties. Just do it for everyone, and build the price into the food, rather than as an add-on.

I’m assuming it supposed to represent Arlington’s location within the original square District of Columbia, before the Virginia portion was retroceded back to the state.
