[US] Marianne Williamson, RFK Jr and Cornel West; let's discuss. (i.postimg.cc)

These candidates are really the only challengers to Biden in the primaries. All of their campaigns are extremely long shots (but not impossible in my opinion- if we decided we liked them more than Biden they could win). Let’s all have a civilized discussion/debate over them. Let’s try to not focus too heavy on their...

I highly doubt anyone but Biden will win either but I’m going to toss her a vote, if even as a protest. (Only in the primaries though)

Lets add that to the list of Biden’s broken promises. Then lets vote for him again because there’s no better option.

Damn... maybe crypto/blockchain isn't so bad

I'm going to keep this short but I just fell down the rabbithole of crypto again and maybe it isn't as bad as I thought. Many of their ideas are very similar to the fediverse's. The idea of decentralized finance using a stablecoin sounds awesome to me. (though i'd much prefer to live in a world where money isn't needed) Maybe...

Maybe i'm naive but I have some hope that after a couple years the whole thing will be forgotten by the techbros and could be used by normal people.

I think copywrite should exist in some form for creative works made by an individual (maybe 20 years with extensions as some series take forever to finish) but for corporations it should be much much shorter or nonexistant. I wonder what would happen if any new groundbreaking tech was automatically public domain. How much more affordable and innovative would everything be?

undefined> It’s a cute idea that will never work in practice.

Why not?

My cousin, who works at a bike shop says that those things are super dangerous and break easily. Is this true in your experience?

metaltoilet,
@metaltoilet@beehaw.org avatar

Huh, that's cool.

metaltoilet,
@metaltoilet@beehaw.org avatar

True. Maybe I'll make a more realistic one at some point. (I just found this somewhere and bookmarked it)

What do you think about Apple and its ecosystem? (And a little conversation I had with a colleague)

I want to talk about this because of a conversation I had with a colleague on a lunch break a few days ago. I am a doctor, and I was talking to him about how angry I was (and still am) about the fact that the COVID vaccines, when they were first invented, were not made public, but instead were patented and sold. This basic fact...

Just FYI vanillaOS is an awesome system to suggest to both new users and experienced ones. None of the snap BS but still based on Ubuntu. It also makes it really hard to mess up your system. Vanilla Gnome too. Check it out.

my tunnel house mostly made from recycled materials and rubbish (beehaw.org)

My partner and I made this wee tunnel house out of dumped hothouse plastic, old vineyard netting, polypipe we found in the forest, and old fence posts. We had to buy some timber for the framing and zip ties to hold the materials together but we got to make use of so many dumped materials....

I think I'd go for an anarchist style thing. Use direct community input, consensus voting, and sortition for selection mods.

Ah. Dang.

Hmm... thanks!

Same... the conversations are way less connecting. You also need to have a ton of followers to reach just as many people as you could on lemmy without any.

metaltoilet,

Ooh I love that sort of thing. I ran a (short) dnd campaign in a world a bit like that.

The Dandelion Dynasty. Amazingly original fantasy series.

A worry/wish with lemmy.

I've been using lemmy for a little while now. I feel like one of the strongest attractions I still have to reddit is the ability to find posts via a search engine. Typically I can type in whatever question I have and add "reddit" and get a far better answer than whatever google will give. I understand that lemmy doesn't have...

See reply to another comment. I was mistaken.

I wish something like this would happen but I don't really see it happening anytime soon in the US.

salarua, (edited ) to memes

got banned from @memes for posting an anti-tankie meme (at least one mod is a tankie of course)

worth it though

Yet many still call themselves anarchists/communists when they are almost the opposite.

Heya, thanks for the response.

As for the names I have a whole (overly complicated system). Basically each language in my world is a mix between multiple real world dead languages. I use chatgpt or open assistant (ik that using ai in worldbuilding is controversial but all the names are still mine) to generate words in the dead languages then smash them together. Sometimes i'll have a word or phrase that I have it translate and then combine and shrink until it's one word. To me, this is easier than conlanging but still original and fun.

The Moche own, operate and control most land and sea routes of trading. They have the best build ships and their caravans can stretch for miles.

People know of it and have named it. A summit has been attempted multiple times, all ending in death. The Moche (basically a trading group, company and culture that have a profound impact on the entire world) have had thoughts of using an airship to land on top of the peak as a publicity stunt but there isn't a powerful enough lift gas (fermented manure's fumes) to get the ships that high up.

The Vikraghallen states are at constant war with each other: forming new alliances, breaking said alliances and ousting leaders quicker than the news can carry it. So no, they can't agree on currency and those things (the economy being so bad it's fully invaluable to anyone doesn't help the fact) at all.

Take a look into Savage Worlds if you want. It's an amazingly simple system that is also insanely versatile.
