The nation of Chik! Bug people freed from psionic slavery become big fans of democracy.

In my mind modern Chik is a bit like France right after the revolution where a bunch of ideas are happening and people are super hyped about enlightenment, but it's all on a knife's edge.

Various factions rose in the following years, and many of the great hives were destroyed. Finally, in 949, the Emtzadt Accords were signed by various representatives of hives across the region. They called their new nation Chik, a word meaning "unity” in tzilog. The new nation was enthusiastic in their new democracy and, eager to join the world at large, petitioned to join the Prct o Carricn, Unfortunately for Chik, the Awalkening that had given them freedom and personhood had caused unrest in the Pact nations that had shattered it. Chik joined in 955 SR, and only 8 years later in 963 the Pact dissolved. The forty years since has been mixed for Chik. As the only free tzilogn nation on Aeris ‘many tzilogn across the continent have made the trip to Chik to find a home for themselves. The unity that defined the early days of Chik has been dying as the Founders of the nation are dying, and strange aberrations from beyond Sarchora to the east have begun to cause disturbances that the House of Unity is having a hard time dealing with. In the present, Chik is in a state of flux. Ideals of liberty and democracy clash with reality, political factions seek to gain power for themselves, and the House is finding it harder and harder to keep control of further hives. Many believe it only a matter of time before Chik splinters into the Cluster once more.

Kuniara is an empire that was central to the last campaign, but we never actually went there somehow. Apart from the conquest of Namirazh, we also never really established why it was an Empire and not just a kingdom (queendom in this case I guess).

Now we know.

Fanax is one of those filler nations that I threw in there cause the map needed something. Now it has a bit of context.

Its known by occultist and those that dabble in the realms of the Entity and Others that the roots of a tree make for the best prisons, if you can wait twenty years from when you plant it. Old live oaks hold some of the oldest entities trapped and creatures beneath them. These trees are notoriously hard to kill, as they are imbued with the warding magic of the one who imprisoned.

If the trees do come to harm and die however, whatever is imprisoned will be released.

@LindseyBonnette is this what that tree was doing in the Halloween Spooktacular? 👀

Planet! The planet-building tools in the SWN pdf really do a good job of providing building blocks.

Also threw in a little twist with off-world tech crusaders cause it seemed like it'd be fun.

Summary : A war-torn world shrouded by darkness. Heavy clouds formed of native microbial airborne lichen-like substance absorbs roughly 90% of the sunlight. Little is known of Singidunum's pre-Scream history, as it has been in a state of near-constant war since. Warlords constantly fight on the planet's surface for one reason: the starports. Five pre-Scream starports pierce the night of singidunum. Though non-operational for generations, Singid folklore says that each of these starports contains clues to restarting each of them and whoever controls all five of them at once will be able to dispel the night and bring the planet into a dawn of sectoral conquest. Though the starports might well have the ability to scatter the lichen-borne night, the truth is that Singidunum is so backwater that they barely have realised that the Emergence has happened. Lacking proper psionics academies, most MES-positive individuals either die or are found by the handful of Cardinalate missionaries from Poroctjo and these psychics rarely return to their war-torn home .
Maznae Crusade In 3084CE, Singidunum was discovered by the first wave of drill- capable Maznae exploration ships. The Maznae Pretech cultists believed the lore about the five starports relayed to them by the singid natives and realised that anything of that power must be Pretech. The explorers, led by Exploration Captain Kizma Qalkha attempted to wrest control of the starports from the natives, to middling success. Due to the logistical difficulties inherent with cross- system warfare, as well as the limited number of drill-capable ships available at the time, the most they were able to take were two starports at a time. Over the next thirty or so years, more and more Maznae Crusaders would make the journey over to Singidunum. By the end of this era, over 50 000 Maznae-born militants and their civilian support would be on Singidunum at a time. When the Al-Maradh System War began in 3121CE, the Maznae there were trapped without backup. They were eventually supplanted and driven down to the surface of the planet. By 3201CE, these Crusaders are entrenched in the politics of shifting alliances of singidunum. The ruling Committee of Maznae has extended an offer to any Maznae-descended person to be returned to Maznae, though very few take the offer up. Over 100 000 Maznae Crusaders now live on Singidunum.

When Extra History did their history of beer, I threw in the Lady of the Hops into my list of gods of Aeris. Here she is, and she has a wine-god husband now which is fun.

The first Aeris post! Aeris is my oldest setting my and also the one I've done the most work on. As I was writing this, it occurred to me how opaque a lot of the second paragraph is haha.

Also a big entry again. I'm curious to see how much these shrink next week.

I've been rolling for setting and have gotten AC32 three times in a row. We'd better regress back to the mean soon.

I almost went into the differences between the four genres of tribes here, but decided to save it for a later entry.

@LeviKornelsen I think this maybe not a super useful framing of the conversation. What does "the hobby" mean in this case?

If I want to try playing an adventure of LANCER and my friend who only plays 5e doesn't want to even look at it, then what good does that do? "The hobby" for me is playing ttrpgs, "the hobby" for them is playing specifically 5e.

However if "the hobby" is people pretending to be other people while rolling dice or whatever, then I still don't think that WotC needs the help.

Apart from the name and the fact that the map generator I used put a big ol' forest there, I don't think I had anything for Badolal before today.

Needed an excuse for a tiny kingdom for an adventure I ran in this setting earlier this year, so conceived of the Doredig Kingdoms as a balkanised section of the world. Decided to actually write something down for today.

Also this is basically Welsh, so "w" is pronounced sorta like "oo" or "ou".

    This is my post.

My name is Tom, I've been playing TTRPGs since 2014 and running them since 2014. I've run somewhere in the neighbourhood of 20 systems by now, but I'm mostly just playing 5e and Sine Nomine's [Stars/Worlds/Cities] Without Number games.

I'm a huge worldbuilder, so most of the reason I made this account was to keep myself accountable for
