And now I have a tiny craft kiln....

Is anyone as excited about Heavy Gear as me? I love this series, and am excited to run a game soon.

One of those, anyway.

I'm seeing a lot of my fellow Gen-Xers saying "When did we start thinking the police were the bad guys?"

Did you not come up on Fuck the Police? On Killing in the Name?

Or is this only because now that you have your little bit of shit and feel entitled that you want to remake it? To be safe for you, instead of strong for them? To become the generation we hated for not protecting us?

These kids are doing what we did. Being who we wanted to be. Help them, don't shit on them. Fucking cowards.

LeviKornelsen,
@LeviKornelsen@dice.camp avatar

@thebrand - I'm at the "young" end of Gen X, and really didn't come up on any of that; conservative parents banned all of that hard for my entire peer group. So when I read stuff like that, I assume it's partly the gen X'ers who never got out of that driving it.

(I'm perfectly well aware of when I myself started thinking the cops were bad guys, though; it was just late in the game.)

Well, these are just vastly better than the previous versions.

Kith features leading to cultural underpinnings as open questions, rather than dicta.

I don't know if it's the dpad or just frustrating design decisions, but wants me to do things that the controls are absolutely not tight enough to achieve.

LeviKornelsen,
@LeviKornelsen@dice.camp avatar

@mvu - On the devices I've played it on, there are bits that made me go "This is a hell of a trick", but it was doable, if only just, so I'm going with "Bit of both".

Awen revisions:

In playtest, the "Place markers on ticky boxes" option was irritating, so for Kiths at least, I'm revising that to one open-ended question per Kith.

I have finished reading Chapterhouse Dune. My fools errand is finished. It’s not good, and of course ends with loose ends.

I think my personal recommendation is reading the first two books. Although just one or even zero are solid choices. Three is alright, except it’s a trap if it makes you curious and want to read more.

I’m tempted to revisit Heinlein who I haven’t read in at least twenty years, but I’m also afraid he’ll be disappointing.

LeviKornelsen,
@LeviKornelsen@dice.camp avatar

@deinol - Even as a Dune fanboy, there's definitively no actual point past God Emperor. It's "here's more of this, because you liked it".

Awen (with cards) live playtest went extremely well. Nailed every design objective I had.

Some parts sing perfectly, while others are merely functional,and a couple things got skipped intuitively with no damage done (and will therefore be dropped for the next iteration).

And, with feedback, I now have a whole list of ways to make the dry parts engaging and the fun parts notably better.

Big win.

Beekeeper. Fun movie. Close to the apotheosis of Jason Statham movies. The Stathingularity.

LeviKornelsen,
@LeviKornelsen@dice.camp avatar

@miriamrobern - Ooooh, excellent. I enjoy a good Statham now and again; they're just different enough to hold attention, but you generally know what you're getting (and it's fun!)

I always liked to think of myself of "as big a Star Wars fan as you can get before it becomes embarrassing".

But I have come to the conclusion that I really only care about "90s Star Wars".
That is, the Expanded Universe as it existed up to 1999. Before there was a second Darth, a Jedi council, clone troopers, and separatists.

Episode 1 is pretty and Episode 3 is super fun. But the only Star Wars works after 1999 that feel right are the KotOR game from 2003 and the comic series from 2006.

LeviKornelsen,
@LeviKornelsen@dice.camp avatar

@yora - I find almost all of the Star Wars stuff entertaining, but very little of it goes past that into where I'll watch it over and over. So I get this.

(Not the same list as you, but the sentiment of "My section is over here", very much).

The amount of chemistry that shows up as soon as you ask the internet "Can I mix my own pottery glaze?" shouldn't be a shocker, but it was to me anyway.

Paycheck was surprisingly good this round, so instead of the microwave kiln, I opted to splurge and ordered the fancy desktop kiln to attempt firing of my little dudes.

Gonna break out my fireproof slabs and set up a workstation for when it arrives.

Novel ceramic game pieces look to be in my very near future! Whee!

I now have a design version of the Chessables in which they are heavily armed.

  • Bottom row is standard chess: Pawn, Reeve/Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen, King.

-Middle row is: Damosel, Mann/Merchant, Prince, Princess, Friar

-Top is: Vampire, Skeleton, Witch, Elf, Wizard.

(A few are not pictured here, including the Hood and Ranger.)

Listen, folks, poisoning the databases against AI by hand is inefficient.

Instead, try to convince a SEO company to start optimizing "getting your product mentioned by next-generation AIs", and let the horribles eat each other.

"The market will efficiently allocate resources where they're most needed!"

Meanwhile, the market: we're putting this "AI" thing that doesn't seem to work and everyone hates into everything you use including your mouse. We're sure this will make us rich somehow. Do you like this? [Yes / Ask me again later]

LeviKornelsen,

That we do not in fact live in said world poses a problem.

@pteryx - I like it! I might switch the way it gets blocked to the four orthagonal squares in all cases, and state "It moves one step orthagonally, then one furth step outward orthagonally in the same direction or diagonally" to make that clear...
