Lemmy itself doesn’t have the ability to follow users on Mastodon, so that would need to be done first.

That could be a nice, mostly distraction-free “phone” for work to read my emails, check my calendar, send chat, etc

I have WiFi access in the office and at home, good enough for work.

Even that could work if you plan accordingly. Cache your Spotify music & podcast, download map regions for offline use with Organic Maps, etc.

How can I change the text colour in my comment box? (lemmy.ca)

The text when I try to type comments (but not the text in the search bar or, as I’m just now learning, here in the ‘post body’ text box) is white, and I can’t find the setting to change it. Obviously I could change my background back to the default blue that it was, but that’s the opposite of a solution....

I have the same issue, I’m using the dark theme full-time for the time being.

With the ability to limit the poll to users of a specific instance and/or subscribers from a community (that were subscribed prior to the poll’s creation).

That way it greatly reduces the amount of users trying to brigade a vote. Can’t do much against sleeper/inactive accounts subscribed just for that purpose, but that at least require some planning.

Are there accessibility-focused NSFW communities out there? If there is, they got double-turbo-fscked by this.

I’d archive them first, then you can decide when and where to repost it

One less reason to use Google for search.

I like NewPipe, but honestly I prefer LibreTube + [Piped](piped video/).

You can create one, and as soon as the ball starts to roll you can ask if someone wants to take over and become the mod.

  1. Make sure the time and timezone is correctly set on your device, TOTP is time-dependent and both the server and the smartphone needs to have the same time in order to validate the code.
  2. Lemmy uses SHA256 instead of SHA1 like most other websites using TOTP. Honestly I’m not sure Google Authenticator supports it, as I don’t see the option when attempting to add a key manually.

The happens when all user sessions are invalidated on the server (this time as a precaution because of a potential security flaw). Connect for Lemmy doesn’t seem to know the session expired, so you have to signout then sign back in to find the Frontpage section again.

You can also use ghe YaRSS2 plugin to monitor RSS feeds with torrent files/magnet links and have each rule downloads to a specific directory. Quite useful for TV shows.

The classic small business trying to save some pennies by cheaping out on the important stuff like backups, despite several attempts at reasoning them, by ultimately ending up crumbling after a system failure.

A bot that provides an alternative link when there is a paywall detected.

[Feature Request] Customisable themes when using the "System" setting

So… I think this is pretty self-explanatory - it would be nice if we could have the app follow the systemwide theme, but still customise how the light and dark themes look. An immediate example would be to be able to use a light theme during the day and the AMOLED theme during the night.

And I’ll add make it a per-account configuration. I wish I could “colorize” my different accounts so I know which account I’m using.

The link starts with otpauth://, which will likely do nothing on desktop. Either click on it from a mobile device, or on desktop you can use an addon like Offline QR Code Generator (Firefox), then right-click the link and select QR code from link. This will show a QR code you’ll be able to enroll in any TOTP app. Hopefully they’ll add an option to display a QR code when using the desktop interface in newer versions of Lemmy.
