mupAus,

It could, but beaches aren’t roads. What if someone was sunbaking or laying on the sand in an area they thought was safe? Are they allowed to be.run over because they weren’t keeping a close eye on every vehicle movement in the vicinity?

In my experience, vehicles don’t stick to any one particular “lane” on a beach so allowing them to use it as a road means the beach is now entirely unusable for anyone who is not in a vehicle.

You shouldn’t have to post a guard to ensure a member of your family is able to enjoy a beach without fear of someone in a vehicle killing them.

mupAus,

Nah, I’m good.

I don’t care if beaches are roads. My point is that beaches should not be roads.

I was over on Moreton Island recently and walking south of the resort. Didn’t see any of your claimed warning signage. Just utes and 4wds tearing the shit out of the beach from the water line up to where the trees start. A beautiful beach in a beautiful spot away from all the crowds but I’ve got to be watching my kids like a hawk to make sure some idiot doesn’t kill one of them and then try to blame me for daring to walk with my kids down to the sand dunes.

I don’t care if it’s legal, it shouldn’t be. Why does everything have to be turned into yet more space exclusively for vehicles. Especially pristine beaches.

mupAus,

Yeah upper management at our work is. That’s pretty much verbatim what they said during a recent meeting to “encourage” staff to come in 3 days a week.

mupAus,

They’re usually electric assisted though; no problems with hills.

mupAus,

Agree but vote that the vehicles are called “beetles”, and the collective noun for them be “a showbag” for a real qld ekka tie-in

mupAus,

I hope his season goes well, but I also feel like in 100 years time there will be ghost stories telling of the Ghost of Cav, haunting the TdF peloton, searching for that last elusive stage win.

mupAus,

I really hope he can, it would be cool to see

mupAus,

I was hoping he was going to measure the claimed temperature accuracy, since a big part of it was the ability to switch it on and make an espresso straight away.

The stated hope was that this technology would be able to trickle down, but he also provided examples of extremely cheap machines that could already do the same thing (but that produce shitty coffee) so I’m assuming the technology he’s hoping trickles down is the ability to quickly and accurately heat water?

mupAus,

An efficient use of their time. I can see why the governing party would want to prevent the use of the term “lies” though.

mupAus,

Probably the same people that stand in queue for 20 minutes but refuse to glace at the menu to figure out what they might want until they’re actively being served and are now holding up the massive line behind them.

End Old man rant.

mupAus,

I think they’re probably on track with then"what", but are fucking up the “how” with the current BS being peddled by the external consultants and “thought leaders”.

As is tradition.

mupAus,

We’ve previously had a mortgage with Bank Australia and they were probably one of the worst in terms of the high interest rates they charged.

Everything came to a head recently when we tried to borrow some additional funds to purchase a new house. We’d signed a contract subject to 14 days finance and once we called Bank Australia they told us it would be 5 - 6 weeks before they could approve anything and would not even be able to start looking at anything for over a week.

Called our broker who got on to Macquarie and they had a valuer out at the property at 9am the next morning to start the approvals process.

Would never, ever use or recommend Bank Aus to anyone.

mupAus,

To echo my comment from the Melbourne thread. I think it’s a good thing and wish more governments would call off projects as soon as they realise the cost is going to blow out.

Better to waste a small amount of money up front, than an extra $4B later.

mupAus,

Yeah, opposition (and parroted by the media) is calling it an ‘embarrassment’ but IMO it’s a great thing. Money better spent elsewhere.

mupAus,

Looks awesome but almost $130 for a family!! That’s a hard sell.

mupAus,

I’d love him to win it, but he seems to have made the breakaway a bit by accident / luck and that’s what got him into yellow. He’s strong, but don’t think he could have held onto Vingegaard for that last climb, had he been in the main group.

Watched him win the Giro though and would love him to win the Tour as well.

mupAus,

Yeah, completely agree. When I say he made it by luck I was referring more to the fact the he was a) allowed in the break, and b) given so much time because no one seemed to notice until they were too far up the road.

mupAus,

I’m keen to see more headlines posted. Only thing I wouldn’t want to see is just spamming the community with every single news article posted by abc / brisbane times / etc. Relavant or interesting news is definitely awesome, mirroring a new website, not so much.

mupAus,

Good idea, will get the wife to post a message.

mupAus,

Hadn’t thought of that, might need to keep some of the stuff packed up for over a year though, so don’t know whether bunnings will let you return after that much time.

mupAus,

I’m using Pocketsmith which has recently converted to using Open Bank feeds for Australian banks.

Pretty happy with Pocketsmith so far, been using them for about 4 years now.
