@rolf we do have an ingrained culture of drinking in Portugal especially among some older workers: some will have their first shot like drink after their morning coffee at a local caffé before work, others will be drinking beer or wine during lunch, and plenty will band together for a few beers after work every weekday.

I have spent the last two, three days at work with an increasing ball of tightness in my chest. I constantly feel like I'm about to burst into tears.
Yet if asked, I could not tell you why. I could not point at a cause other than throwing up my hands and going "blargh, all of it", which is possibly not very useful.

@Ehlyah the "all of it" can sometimes be overpowering and overwhelming, and as hard as it seems right now we remain more or less intact after it passes 🙂 (with a higher urge for chocolate in my case👀)

What would happen if we all just stopped paying, I mean I stop paying rent my (nice) landlady stops paying loans et al et al. What would they (vanguard or whoever) actually do? Send armies (=ourselves) to force people to pay for their imaginary wealth?

All it would take would be a little impossible unity of non-doing something to take down capitalism in a few days. That's how close we are.

@tokyo_0 yes it might, in terms of denial of the whole system I don't think we really have a precedent, since most of our current economy rests on post industrial things like valuations and high debt. But I agree that more realistically we should strive to deny the system the workers it needs, and organise for the workers instead (agriculture coops have been doing it since ages ago).
