@swatantra Hello Rohit. If you don't follow AI-Weekly directly then perhaps someone whom you do follow boosted our post, which would present it to everyone that follows that person as well. Either that, or you follow Top Tech Tidbits, which is an AI-Weekly partner and distributes all of its issues as well. Hope this information helps. - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher 🤖📰

@swatantra @datasciencejobs I see. In that case I honestly have no idea. I might dig into the specific configuration settings of your server to see what is being allowed and what is not. If you figure it out please be sure to share it with us.

@swatantra @datasciencejobs No inconvenience at all Rohit. Glad you figured it out.

@news Hi. Is TTT now being released on Fridays? I just noticed that last week it was slightly delayed and I can't locate a March 21 or 22 issue. I'm in no way complaining but just wondering if there's a schedule change.

news,
@news@mastodon.toptechtidbits.com avatar

@brianhartgen @DavidGoldfield Hello gentleman. Thanks so much for checking in. David is correct. Since we reached 15K subscribers we have been inundated with requirements that must be met in order continue sending internationally. None of which is a problem. Just unexpected and time consuming. So we're working through the changes as quickly as we can. The only net effect may be some continued delays until we get everything sorted out. We appreciate your patience as we grow! 📰♿🚀

@DavidGoldfield @brianhartgen Thank you so much David. You are correct. My apologies. It seems I inverted the order of your posts in my aching brain. Please forgive me. I too am seriously excited about exceeding the 15K marker. I just haven't had the opportunity to let it sink in yet. Let alone celebrate it. Though I think it is something we should all definitely celebrate. Because a LOT of people, companies and orgs have all come together to make it possible. So proud of what we have built! 💪♿🚀

@DavidGoldfield Not to worry, your radar is working just fine my friend. AI-Weekly was just launched today. Well, the first issue of the newsletter was anyway. The website launched about a week and a half ago now but we've been working on the project since January 1, 2024. So glad you approve. And thank you so much for everything you continue to do via Tech-VI. Tidbits wouldn't be what it is without you and the Tech-VI list. Sincerely grateful for all you do. - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher 🙏

Vispero's Next Big Thing Contest Winner Announced | DoubleTap
https://doubletaponair.com/visperos-next-big-thing-contest-announces-winner-tonight/

The winner of Freedom Scientific's Next Big Thing contest has been announced. Freedom Scientific, a leading manufacturer of assistive technology for people with vision impairments, launched the innovative contest back in September to crowdsource new features for their renowned software products JAWS and ZoomText. Finalists' ideas included creating a JAWS Gym to help people get to know the numerous ...

@remixman So did we! But we also understand that they can only entertain so many great ideas at a time. But an app, aptly named "JAWS Gym," that walked new and existing users through the many shortcuts that JAWS has to offer, perhaps allowing one to "Level Up" to something like "MASTER JAWS CONTROLLER" would REALLY go a long way to helping people to better utilize JAWS. I think gamification makes learning fun. And easier. - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher 📰🚀

@bryansmart @datajake1999 I couldn't agree with you more. Smiles. As I see it, these truly renewable resources are just following the current trend. And dongles have been that trend for far too long. But we are now in the age of AI. Which I fully expect will finally kill the accessibility dongle concept once and for all. Or, at the very least, shrink it down to the size of a pocket protector that you can wear on your shirt. Right? 😁📰🤖 - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher

My guess would be that it was re-summarized from the original. CellularNews.com acknowledges the source of the original article as Dailymail.co.uk at the very top of the article. Which we should have noted. I know I'm splitting hairs here, semantically, but "written by" and "re-summarized by" are two different things that we are just beginning to recognize here in the publishing world. Great catch. Thank you. We will be sure to share the native link next week. 🙏📰 - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update around this. The date on the original article from Dailymail.co.uk is listed as May 15, 2014. Making this article almost 10 years old. So not only was it re-summarized by AI, but it re-summarized a 10 year old article. And we didn't catch it either. Ouch. Rest assured we will be looking at all articles more closely going forward. This article will be removed. Thanks so much for catching this. 🙏📰 - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher

Not to be rude, but is there any reason why top tech tidbits is always linking to wired, when there’s a subscription required to read it? Just curious. @news

@news@mastodon.toptechtidbits.com avatar

@wmj1102
No worries. It's question that we get often, and one that I have written about before: https://www.toptechtidbits.com/149.html#03162023G. In short, Wired is the #1 technology publication in the world. Top Tech Tidbits is the #1 access technology publication in the world. So anytime Wired releases important access technology related news, we want readers to know about it. Even if it requires a subscription. We believe readers should decide for themselves what they wish to read, and what they do not. 📰

Yes, iOS 17 Is Changing Where The 'End Call' Button Is Located | 9to5Mac
https://9to5mac.com/2023/08/10/ios-17-end-call-button-change/

A change that Apple introduced with the first beta of iOS 17 back in June is going viral this week. As part of a number of changes to the Phone app and the calling experience, Apple has relocated the positioning of the red "End" button. The change, perhaps unsurprisingly, is drawing quite a bit of criticism on social media.

@kev @boogiechild Yes they did. Thankfully. We've just posted an update on this. Thank you! 📰

news,
@news@mastodon.toptechtidbits.com avatar

@maerlynofmiria @Willpogor I know exactly what you mean Steve. The good news is that as of this communication Apple has reversed course and the End Call button is now back where it was. Cheers! 🥂

news,
@news@mastodon.toptechtidbits.com avatar

@maerlynofmiria @Willpogor Oh wow. Yeah. Beta testing can have some seriously adverse effects on drivers that no longer understand which version to use. This can lead to some wonky effects like those you've described. Beta testing is not always as easy as many would have us believe.

I hear you. We all mourned the loss of the headphone jack here at TTT as well. 🪦 It took some time, but our trusty Lightning Port to 3.5mm headphone jack converter got us through for awhile. And then? We just couldn't take it anymore. So we went wireless. And Air Pods became the standard for all of us. Which was really weird. At first. Now I'm not sure I could go back. - Aaron Di Blasi, Publisher 📰

@maerlynofmiria @boogiechild @Willpogor
Everything that you have described has been our experience with wireless audio (in general) as well. The only wireless solution that is currently ready for real work are Apple Air Pods paired to an Apple device. And even then only high end Apple devices provide the best experience. But at the edge, even the most basic version of Air Pods work great most of the time. But outside of an Apple / Apple pairing we haven't found anything sustainable either. 😢
